How long does it take?

Curious who the cue maker is so that others don't get into the same situation.

That is not always the case. Sometimes someone gets into a jackpot with someone else and it is not their regular MO. Nothing suggests the guy is a crook, just these two have gotten into something and need to sort it out. Outing the guy does nothing to solve his problem with the guy and in general the cue maker may be a good guy.

In general I don't really trust anyone. Just last month someone walked off with hundreds of dollars worth of goods from my wife's thrift store we set up for her church. All the money goes to the church by the way, we take nothing. No one has the keys and it had to have happen sometime during Bible study when they were in the next room and did have access. The place is packed with stuff, much donated by us from a thrift store we were going to open and never followed through with and I guess they thought no one would even notice. We had a pretty complete inventory and they grabbed so much it was noticeable.

Can you believe it, church members stealing from their own church during Bible study. I now have an inside lock on the door that goes to the other rooms so no one can in but us and the minister.
I TRULY believe all that governs most peoples honesty is the probably of getting caught, nothing to do with moral values. The ease with which people lie now is astounding. In many cases they don't care if they get caught as long as the lie can further their needs, they will just concoct another lie.

Getting back to the original reason for this thread. It had nothing to do with dishonesty, it had to do with not telling the truth and then having to continue lying as it snowballs. That is why my other advice to the OP to reset the clock get back to talking and give the guy a chance to make it right. Basically, give him a way out and hope he takes it.

Uh oh

I am having a cue built locally. The cue has been under construction for over three years. Is it common for a cue to take this long? The cue has six points of purple heart into ebony with one black and one white veneer. The cue has 28 inlays some of which are made of silver. The cue has decorative rings at the joint and on the butt sleeve. Every time I ask the cue maker whether he has worked on my cue he says it is too humid. Bear in mind this is in Oklahoma. Thoughts please.

Would his initials be K T? If so, your in trouble. Sorry. If you get it you will like it! Great guy, great cue, takes foreeeever!

Outing this person is not my objective at this time. I need knowledge on how to deal with him. The humidity excuse is worn out. When he told me "F U" I lost any respect I had for him. If he respected me and valued me as a customer and a fan of his work he would have done me the courtesy of finishing my cue in a timely manner. I had made a deal to get another cue after this one was finished, but it became painfully evident that he would never get to it at this rate. We made a trade and ended plans for another cue. I know of at least two cues that he has made in less than a year within the last 5 years. If he wants to work on them they seem to get done a lot quicker. I used to like and respect this person, but he doesn't seem to give a shit about me or a host of other customers. He has been busy for the last couple of weeks working on cues. Maybe he will finish the cue and we can part ways without any more drama hopefully.

Time

Well any builder knows it takes time to build a cue! The one I just posted and finished took me just shy of 16 months to build. It's hard to understand how much time goes into building. If your like Joe B and have the forest hanging in your shop and your wood is ready to go at anytime (love ya joe) you could do a cue in the right setting in a good time. If this guy was a god like cue builder and had a lot of stuff to do and did repairs like one cue builder I know (xxxx It) it will get done and it will be the best it can be worth the wait!
But when things come up and you get a cue say 60% done and XXXX it up you have to fix it and start over sometimes. Yes he could back door it but that's MICKEY MOUSE productions!
But when he said FU! It's over for me that's bad business.
One thing I do with building cues for people if you don't pay 1/2 I won't start it you pay in full I won't take it till the job is done! But that just me I'm small time in this world.
So if you want a nice cue built hit me up :-)

Bullshit. Way to defend the behavior.

Scott <<== guessing "mutt" is the "cue maker" in question
