It depends on what sort of other conditions they have to put up with. I've been practicing with my own set of Aramiths and each time I clean them I see new dings. Some pocket has a nail head sticking out. Those dings don't polish out. How often do you vacuum the table? Do you ever cue the object balls?

It also depends on how you clean them. You'll get a much better luster with a ball cleaning machine or a buffing wheel in a carpet lined oil change bucket, like I use :) rather than trying to clean them up by hand.

If you don't ever clean them and the cloth is new with the new balls, you can get several hundred hour on the balls without having to even wipe the balls down (CB is different).

The balls have only two places where they can pick up dirt--the CB impact point and the cloth (three if you include jumping off the table and hitting the floor.)

When I am practicing 3 hour/day I generally have to polish the CB once a week, and polish up the pool balls themselves 3 times a year. It sort of depends on how shiny you want them. I lke my balls to have close to the throw I get when at league play.

I use chalk off and never cue my object balls.

I polished them with the homemade pool ball cleaner that's in a bucket with carpet :)
