How many more Derby City One Pocket titles does Efren still have left in him?
How many more times will he be a contender for the All-around title?

Can anyone venture an educated guess as to how much he still has left in his tank?

The reason I ask for opinions is I believe he is going to also set a mark on longevity greatness, as well as creative greatness. I think he will win the next 2 DCC 1P titles and possibly 2010's as well. I think he'll be a strong contender for the next 5 years easily. If that doesn't seem like a whole bunch longer, consider that Joyner, Frost, Deuel, Nevel, Harriman, Daulton, etc are still chomping at his heels, wanting his titles.

As far as him contending for the all-around again, I'm less sure because IP rewards knowledge and execution, whereas 9 ball rewards youthful eyesight and shotmaking. There are many more threats to him in 9 ball nowadays than the smaller platoon of realistic threats to his 1P throne.

According to Efren, he peaked on shot making ability long ago and has been on the down hill slide shot making for many years. Although his knowledge of shots is still increasing, that is a very slow increase, basically stable. If the fix on his eyes holds up, he may play at this level or very close for another five to ten years. The real question is will this level be good enough to dominate in five or ten years? The level of play of the young guns may catch up to him.

One pocket? Efren may win as long as he is breathing. The intimidation factor most feel playing him is a huge advantage for him.

Banks? He may be getting stronger here.

The all around? This will hinge more and more on his banks game because the nine ball will become more of a crap shoot all of the time as to whether he finishes high or not. As the overall skill level of players increases, nine ball becomes more and more of a matter of luck in the short races of tournament play. Even swapping to ten ball isn't going to help because players are quickly mastering the ten ball rack too.

I think we will see Efren's star fading soon if it isn't now. Not because of his decline as much as the rest of the world coming closer to his level.

Well

noone has figured out how to beat Efren 2 times in a row, let alone on a regular basis, so I'll say he still has a few left in him, 4 or 5.

Even if someone starts gaining on him in the shotmaking area, he has enough knowledge to be a 'tricky ole codger' for quite some time.
