I'm sure I forgot a few

also met up with catscradle and played once.
Memory restored, thanks Bora. ;)

I had a match up with NoStroke. Don't ask.:(

RecoveryJones had showed me quite a few things, he is a great student of the game.

I played with Stephen from the UK... O ... I mean I racked for Stephen from the UK, in the DCC for a few hours, it was fun. Thank you.

I am not sure if he posts here but I know he reads this forum. Stephen was the first guy who told me not to hit the ball so hard and it has greatly improved my game.

one time

One time in my APA league I came across catscradle. Wb both had to race to 5 in 8 ball, on a bar box. It was a close match but he ended up taking me down on the hill. It was a good match and Steve was a great guy. I'm sure I'll meet him again down the line.

Hal that would be fellow marine, Justin.

Richard,
We let Stephen in as sort of an "honorary" AZB'er because he seemed to like the atmosphere. He DID promise to register as a member when he returned home. I believe he said he was going to use the screenname "DamnLimey" (his words, not mine). Where are you Stephen??????

Any one coming to Australia

I'm a new member, but anyone coming to Victoria, Australia is welcome to come for a game:) .

I live out of Melbourne, but am travelling distance to it. If you are an accomplished player, give me warning and I'll drag some competition along(we have a couple of Australian 8-Ball team members in Ballarat). If you come either in April or October, there are 2 large 8-ball tournaments, with $3500Aus for the winner.

As a little travel log, Melbourne has the Australian Open Tennis in January, F1 GP in March and the Melbourne Cup horse race in November($1.5million 1st prize, 200 000 people in attendance). I've also sent an email to the IPT to try and get the Australian leg of the tour in Melbourne:D . I also work at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, which is a 1850's goldmining town, and can be your personel guide.

Hope to see someone sometime

Oh yeah, the Big Suck I mean the Big Easy still has a grip on me. At least I have a roof over my head. The downstairs of my house only needs doors and trim to be finished. If the hurricane hits me this year like it did last year, I will be collecting the insurance money, selling any remaining assets and moving somewhere else.
I heard all of the good players move to Florida. :-)
Warm Regards,
JoeyA

I'll be at Bogie's in North Houston this week for the 1P and 9B. If anyone is there, I'll be the one recording many of the 1P and 9B matches. Anyone planning on attending?

Are you in the Reserves?

As a matter of fact I matched up with Skippy last night. We had some good matches and I'd say we're pretty even. The score was 7-7, 7-6, 7-5 and 7-5. I met him on AZ because of posts about Action in Melbourne. We plan to play again!
As to the winner, a lady never kisses and tells...

Hi Daniel,

A year and a half ago my wife and I were in Australia during the Melbourne Cup. The closest we got to Melbourne was Sydney and I couldn't find a decent pool room. My wife and I ended going to a bar and playing eightball on some strange coin tables (colored balls, no numbers, and I think snooker pockets) with some young people from Scotland of all places.

For those who don't know the Melbourne Cup, it's Australia's version of the Kentucky Derby. The country shuts down and parties like crazy, watching the race on big screens. Melbourne cup partying in SYD was a blast. Australia has some beautiful women and they dress up like a fashion show for the day.

We also went to Port Douglas and scuba dived off the barrier reef. We liked the whole country, but the highlight of the trip was the outback. We flew to Ayers rock and rented a 4 wheel drive and took a remote dirt trail, 300 km on paved road and 400 km off road through rugged outback Aboriginal land enroute to Alice Springs. We didn't see another human being all day. We stopped at a lot of the natural wonder sites along the way - just amazing. We saw a lot of wildlife including wild horses all over.

If I lived in Autsralia I don't think I would have time to play pool - it's just a wonderful country. I would get a motorcycle and cruise from town to town, talking to Aussies until I died of old age.

Well said PHM. I'm looking forward to watching some more of you two match up. I need to spend more time in there and get used to the rolls.

TheHalfaCouple,
Your chances of profiting from such a match-up with me would have been SUBSTANTIALLY better had you not posted that sick video of yourself running 90 balls in about 2 minutes. If I could pocket balls that effortlessly I would run a freaking 500 (well...reality check... at least I might finally break 50). If you are ever in the area I'm sure we can arrange something (my matches to a thousand are usually played for a penny a point, breakup is a special case - grudge match).

That was my stunt double! Nah as Im sure you know that video was a TERRIBLE way to play 14:1, it started out as a warm up just to get my arm going and went downhill from there, sad thing is I've hardly played 14:1 since then :(

Sure we'll match up one day, if I dont get to DCC in Jan I'm going to give up pool!

I've played with "Snake" at a weekly tourny in Pasadena, great guy.

Asgar
P.S. If any of you are in SoCal, I run a weekly 8-Ball tourny on Thursdays. Location is Charles Billiards in Glendale. Free parking and free table time starting at 6:00pm, tourny starts at 8:00pm. $15 entry includes a drink from the bar. Great people and a great room, some pretty good food too.

I have had the honor of playing/meeting the following AZers:

If you thinks Sydney's crazy, you should see Melbourne! The Melbourne cup is only 1 of many race days that make up the spring racing carnival over a 3 week period, and there are over 6 million dollar + races.

Sydney is also not the best place to play pool. In my home town of Ballarat (85000) there are 2 main halls with 12 and 24 tables respectivly, and in Melbourne I know of at least 10 halls as big (one with 42 tables, bar, live music etc). As for the "weird" balls, Australia has affiliated with the World Eight-Ball Pool Federation, and stipulations are 8foot tables, and use of the red/yellow balls (known as casino balls in some places). 8ball is the game of choice, except for a few new 9ball leagues in Melbourne.
