How many top US players could you name before it would be too hard of a call?

I hope that you can understand what I am trying to ask (the question that is on my mind).

What would be your top 10, 15, or 20 player list (from the best at the very top on down), and how far can that number go before it would be too hard of a question (like it would be too hard of a question to list who the 10th best player in the US is, for example?).

Like, could there be 20 players in the US that would be tied for the number of 10th best player in the US?

I assume that this is a very hard question, because there are so many games, and some players are better then others at certain games.

So, maybe I should just stick to what was always my favorite game (9 ball). How many top 9 ball players are there in the US, and how long would you say the list of players is (top 50 maybe?, or top 100?)? I am probably coming off as confusing, because I do not really know how to explain the question that is on my mind.

Thanks. I did not think of that. Very interesting to see all of the names that I know from the past, and at least half of the 100 I never heard of. Was kind of surprised to see Hunter Lombardo at #98. Is he not one of the very few players that actually plays all over the world? I guess that would not give him a better Fargo rating though.

How many ESPN executives or ESPN announcers can name even one player? I'll bet they never heard of Shane.

This seems to be a very confusing. I'm not sure which question you're asking.
Are you asking for us to name what we think are the top 20 pro players (from best
to least best of those names), or are you simply asking us to name pro players until
we can't do so anymore (just as CracktheRack above is intimating)?

My impression is that you are asking the second question. Am I correct?
I hope because toward the end it gets even more confusing. :)

I notice so far no one has actually answer your question(s), justinb.

I see Bergman at #10, and Morra at #44 on the top 100 Fargo Rate World list. That is interesting, and very surprising.

Not really. They have a difference of 18 points between them which isn't much. One bad performace by bergman/great performance by Morra would close the gap pretty quickly.

I think people get all bent out of shape by this system. You should use it as a rough guideline, but its not an exact measure of one's skill.

One things for certain, everyone on the fargo list is an animal. I know that not all the gamblers/non tournament players have enough games in the system to make the list of US players, but I'm fairly confident that the majority of the "Top 100 US Fargo" players would truly be in the Top 100 in the country.

You do not really list or number players because it is difficult cos there is usually little to separate these top players
You talk about tiers or bands
Like for eg. Shane would be Tier 1
Dechaine, Bergman would be Tier 2

I also believe that there could be 50 times or better that number world wide ,, Kevin Chang comes over and has mopped up on USA players and I would bet there's many more his speed right behind him

World Snooker uses the Fargo rating ? There are no pool tours , most points are assigned from one off tavern tournaments using various rules formats . I'm not saying it couldn't be used , any pool rating system with defined standards could be used .

Lol, yeah, I figured that my post might sound confusing. I can't really explain what I was trying to ask. Just a bunch of things going through my mind at the time. The main thing I was curious to know, is how many players are in a league of their own (to the point where you can separate that player from other players down the line). Like I understand that SVB is in a league of his own right now in the US, right? Any other players down the line that are any better then any others further down the line (if that makes any sense)? Like, for example, could Mike Dechaine give Bergman any kind of a spot playing 9 ball? If so, then he is probably the solid number 2 player in the US, right? How many more spots down the line could you name? I hope I made more sense this time (with the question I was originally trying to ask). Thanks.
