How much do the actual pool balls affect your game?

So I met a new player today in the university pool hall. He brought his own cue ball, the TV Aramith Ball (measles). Our normal pool balls are cheap no-names in very sorry condition. Now, I found that when I was playing with the Aramith ball, I felt like it rolled much more consistently and the normal pool balls and I was making shape on EVERY single shot. Was this just the result of the placebo effect or me just having a good day or does the pool balls really matter that much?

A clean cue ball can make a noticeable difference..... and so can clean object balls. Some people carry the full set with them.

There is less throw when playing with clean CB/OBs. I have a clean set and a dirty set, and you can definitely tell the difference.

A dirty ball can change your angle, or change the straight cb line a bit. So yes, it can affect your game.

I hate playing with those Kelly balls, the Aramith and Centenials are nice to play with but the Aramiths seem heavier,so it does make a difference and changes the game alittle, cant stand the Elephant balls.

Most likely placebo effect and/or having a good day are the main factors, but the ball probably made some difference.
