How much is cushion replacement?

I am looking to pick up a Craftmaster 8ft table tomorrow for $300 in great condition but one side cushion is rock hard. What would it cost to replace this cushion? Good idea to do all of them? I'm on a pretty tight budget.

Go ahead and replace them all. Materials and labor will probably run you at least $200.

Edit: Disregard. Not getting that table, but input on cushion replacement in general is still appreciated in case the issue arises again.

Thanks for the info. Here is the table. The only things I see wrong with it is the hard rail and slight damage to 3 of the legs by dogs, which is not really a concern. Do you feel it would be worth the $300 for the table plus the new cushions and cloth? The cloth on it looks fine but I'd prefer not to re-use.

Thanks

The pieces with the damage at the top of the leg is actually a spacer that is attached to the frame of the table. When the legs are off, remove the
spacer and turn the damage to the inside of the table. Should just be some drywall screws or brad nails. Wont be as noticeable.

Thanks, but I've decided not to get that table. Owner didn't want to entertain anymore of my questions and took a moderately rude approach. Not somebody I want to deal with.
Unfortunate though, because after what you just said, it made me a little more interested in the table. Plenty more fish in the sea.

Well, from his point of view he is giving this table away compared to what he paid for it. Unfortunately, thats the market right now. Honestly, i would not of entertained any questions except, when can i pick it up? lol

The table was in his house when he moved in. He paid ZERO dollars for it unless the previous homeowner factored it in to the price of the home haha

It's been up on Craigslist for at least a week and said he had someone else serious about it the day I went to look at it. For some reason that person didn't return either. Makes me wonder.

I did have full intention on picking it up tomorrow though. Oh well. I'll move on hoping I may have just saved myself a headache. Back to the $475 Olhausen I was looking at.

Rent a truck and take a road trip north. This is a hell of a deal for a sweet table.

Depending on the position of leg bolt you may be able to just turn the whole leg around to hide damage cause the flutes are on all four sides. I agree with Pat at that price it should of just been about scheduling a pick up time.

Well I guess I lost out :( Was just afraid of jumping into something that this guy really knew nothing about to begin with.

I'm sure he'd still sell it but not sure I really want to deal with him anymore, even if it is a good deal.

I'm new to this scene and so many people are telling me check this check that. Just adds a level of paranoia that something may be wrong with it, and I end up asking a bunch of questions as recommended by many on here.

At least I'll generally know what to look for ahead of time now. Or maybe I should just stick to the pool hall 15 minutes away with 9' Medalists

Getting educated before buying is a good thing. If it's a $ 100 or a Thou or two....you do not want to get stuck with a headache.

Swallow your pride for a short while and deal with the guy. Once the table is in your vehicle, it's yours and you won't have to look back at him.

If you're on a tight budget, I would hold out for something that doesn't need a lot of work right off the bat.

Looking at that particular table, you're going to have to pay someone to move it, plus rubber replacement, plus new cloth, and you'll still have to worry about the doggy damage.

You're looking easily around a grand now for that table.

I compare that to looking at a cheap car that you like, but you know it needs a new transmission and starter, and even once you get it running, someone has keyed the hell out of the doors. Oh and the seller is an A-hole. Would you still be even considering that car?

With the table market right now, I'm sure you could find a good furniture table similar to that one at around the same asking price that would just need moved. Unless you've fallen in love with that table in particular, or are in a huge hurry to get a table, wait for something more desireable.

Thanks for the input. I've spent a lot of time on craigslist and definitely feel something better will come my way. All the nice ones are an hour or so away but there has to be something popping up local.

How bad is it to re-use cloth? I understand it's not recommended but honestly, for a mediocre player, how much of a difference in slop are we looking at? I will likely try to move a table myself and then have it professionally installed.

You can re-use a bed cloth, depending on how worn it is, and how short it was cut when it was installed. When you're talking about rubber replacement though, you have to replace the rail cloth, and you might as well replace the bed at the same time. Otherwise, it probably won't match due to fading, and variance in dye lots from batch to batch.

If you're planning on hiring someone to install the table for you, from an insurance/liability standpoint, I would just go ahead and have them move it as well. That way if something happens to the slate or anything during transport, their insurance will replace it. If you damage something while moving it, it's obviously coming out of your pocket. Just make sure the company is, in fact insured, but to me for usually small difference in price, it's well worth letting the pros carry the slate. ;)

Basically if you're going to get the table, and know you're going to pay someone to install it, save up a little more and hold out a little longer and get a table you will be happy with, and have the whole job done by someone who will do it right. You'll be glad you did in the long run.

Thank you for your input. You have a good argument and I'll probably end up going that route. Slate was the only thing I was paranoid about moving and removing from the cabinet.

I think I'll wait to find a table with good rubber and nice looking cloth so that all they have to do is move it and reassemble it. The money I save on cloth/rubber can go to the movers so I can sit back and watch them work :p
