How much of a difference does a cue make?

I always find these threads interesting. I own several customs and am an admitted cue snob. That said, I am under no delusion that there aren't production cues much less expensive that could make me just as happy when it comes to feel and playability.

For me, I like certain aesthetics and cue specifications (sharp points and 60" length for example). I play at 80-90% with a house cue and most of that difference comes down to length. I also constantly switch between the cues I have with negligible changes to my game. Sure, part of it is probably that I'm not good enough (C+/B-) to really notice the difference in my play between the cues but I also think that I simply adjust fairly quickly. You can play great pool with a pretty basic quality cue but I have a weakness for the fancy and I'm ok with that!
