How much would you pay for a Phillippi sneaky pete (if found in a pawn shop)?

Personally i wouldnt pay $2 for it. Not a fan of the hit. Im assuming since it is a cjstom cue technically from a custom maker it could range from 200-500.

I understand what you are saying. They are super stiff hitting cues (and many players may not like them for that reason), but I know they are popular. Phillippi is a great cue maker (there is no arguing that).

Thats subjective depending on if it was made by the father or son.

you're going to have a hard time getting the best of it with a signed cue at a pawn shop, unless they paid dirt for it and are happy just getting their percentage.

Yeah, I understand. I will not know their asking price until Tuesday, and I do not have high hopes of it being under $200. I tried offering a $100, and he told me that he was not sure yet, and needed to look up what it is worth and how much they have invested in the cue (and there was no time for any of that, because they were just about to close). It was a really nice looking Phillippi (I thought). Simple looking (hustler style joint, with a white butt cap), but I thought it looked really nice. It looked to have a piloted 5/16x14 joint. The shaft looked to be sanded down a lot, and had a lot of bluing all the way down to near the end of the shaft (where the joint is). Looked like a nice player.

I don't buy it, it takes all of what 1 or two minutes for them to look up. I've never known any pawnshop to be too busy for a sale lol.

Post deleted. Never mind. Thanks.

Which pawn shop ??

So i can notify them to check on ur az threads and be wary of doing business with you ?

They should be warned of being prepared to issue a refund or forced into buying a DREAM CUE OF YOUR CHOICE if the cue is 0.01% not straight ,shaft too smooth or rough , taper may not be beefy or slim enough , logo maybe a little discolourized , shaft ferule maynot be yellowish or white enough for u to find center ball or apply english , wood may not be figured or overly figured which may affect UR RESALE VALUE.

Dude, pick up some balls and walk into a brick n mortar shop like seyberts and pick up a cue after trying.

But i wldnt be surprise if the nicest salesman present have to control himself from slapping you square in the face if u act like justinbrb.
Whatever it is, dont act like urself.

I wish u nothing but the best of rolls on the table n finding the cue of YOUR DREAM ! well, after all its a dream !

I offered them a $100 cash, and they said no. The guy did not feel like taking the time to look it up. He told me to call him back on Tuesday, and he would give me a price on the cue.

Justin, I need the tip replaced on my Schon shaft, but I live hours from somebody who I would trust to install it. I could try to do it myself, but this would probably lead to disaster. But the point is, I am now playing with the cue that I bought specifically to leave in my car. If it warps, then "oh well," I paid $50 for it and can just get another one. It's a Player's sneaky pete with a lepro tip. I love my Schon, but I swear I play even better with the cheap cue. I'm in no rush to get a new tip on the Schon shaft.

Just get a cue you shoot well with and focus on playing. It doesn't have to be a custom.

Too bad for him. I say he lost the sale. I might give him a little less though, for the inconvenience of 2 shopping trips.

100 is fair and I absolutely love the way the Philippi sneaks play.

Next time, don't show your cards.

Exactly.....I ran into a bargain at a pawn shop near a casino.
A playing cue, a break cue, and a leather case.
....it was a WAY underpriced.
So I bought three other cues and two books...and bargained on the lot.

...sold the case in my home room that night...paid for the total purchase. :)
The playing cue was an old Meucci in good shape....with the five cues sold..made over a $1,000.

...next time I dropped in, he said "I was sleeping on that deal...you did pretty good."
....told him "Damn, I gave everthing to my nephews, I wish I had known."
I don't think he believed me....

I found a $200 fishing reel (shimano stradic) at a pawn shop for $25 once. Sometimes they just don't lookup the price of things, they just try to get x % markup.

No pool cues yet but I keep looking :)
