How much is this Schön Unique Cue worth, NOW?

Dear AZB-Members,
I finally have got my requested answer from Schon, concerning the Identity of my Schon Unique!
E-Mail received from John Fuhrman / sales@schoncues.com (03.21.2014 / 08.34 PM)
BEGIN "That cue was not given a number. It was made for the owner Terry Romines in 2011. At some before he passed it was sold off." END
A (well known) Billiard Supply bought that cue and sold it in 2012. It had a suggested retail price of 3'700$ and has been sold to a very good customer for less! Finally I bought it for a fair price in January of this year, from that customer above.

Now I really don't want to be respectless. So please don't get mad of me, because I'm asking the following question: Since it's officially proven, that this cue is the very last Schon Unique Cue who has been made for Terry Romines, the owner and Co-founder of Schön Cues, I would like to know if that fact matters the worth of my cue?!

The cue has a very dark and well figured cocobolo forearm and buttsleeve, it has 12 E-Ivory points and spears on the forearm and 16 reversed points and spears on the buttsleeve. On the begin of these 28 points and spears are many recon. turqouses inlayed in diferent art forms also made of E-Ivory. The wrap is made of black embossed leather. All the cue is in a mint condition and it is a real big player too. The Original Schön IV Shaft is still new and unchalked.

Does anybody can make a quit realistic estimation on the worth of this Schön Unique Cue?

Thank you for every (serious) estimation or answer!

You present a tough question.......Schons do not retain value very well.....it's a proven fact....the cues play great but collectability values aren't the same. It really doesn't matter much which model Schon, even all the recent Tribute cues by Schon. About the only cues that you see great interest and better value retention are the Runde Schons......cues Bob actually put his hands on making.......I have one and even that cue doesn't fare well versus other cue-makers in terms of cue resale prices.

Schon probably did value this cue @ over $3k......I think you said $3700 which seems way over-priced but let's take that at face value......that's a full retail number that no one pays anyway.....a dealer price would substantially much lower and Schon would make a nice profit.......you need to start with what a dealer price would be if this cue was made for them.......then go down from there.......not up because this market the past five years proves otherwise.

I'd place this cue's likely value at $1600-$1900, despite the retail number you mentioned even if Terry had personally played with the cue. If it was made prior to 1991 for Terry Romine by Bob Runde and of course, that's impossible chronologically speaking, then it's a different price scenario. A cue dealer would certainly list the cue for more than this but they'd also discount to sell the cue.....Heck, even Joel Hercek cues get discounted a lot from the asking prices........that's just the reality of the secondary cue market the past several years, i.e. reduced cue prices on any "cue-maker"... and it makes sellers upset but so be it.

Anyway, I am not an expert and I doubt anyone can claim that anymore with the variety of opinions that float around the Forum. Nonetheless, up until now, no one had attempted to answer your question with their posts and so I thought someone needed to kick start the discussion of your cue's retained value in the secondary market. Let's see what the cue professionals have to say but Terry's name really lends diminutive added value to the price for this specific cue....IMO.

1600 - 1900$ for that fancy nearly new Schon Unique in mint condition? Btw all the white stuff on this 1of1 Cocobolo Cue is made of Ivory! (Except the buttcap)
- NOT MORE?! -
Any other opinions or estimations, or do you all realy think like that too?!

While Bavangoul could have said what he said in 20 words and not 200 his value is right on - and maybe closer to the $1600 mark on a good day. Not that it is not a nice cue but people that spend $2000 on a cue are not looking for schons and those looking for Schons are not spending more than $900 on a cue (typically).Anecdotally, You may find that older gentleman in a pool hall who values schons higher that will pay that price. I say that because it jut seems all the high end schons over 2K that I have seen being played with were by people in 60s who think these are the second coming of George Balabushka
