How often R U Fully In Stroke?

Think you need to define stroke.... After playing for years getting in stroke is pretty easy... What isn't easy without lots of table time is getting into the zone.....

Renfro is right. Being in stroke or getting in stroke isn't too bad if you have already developed a solid game. Now getting in dead stroke is a whole other animal!
Dead stroke comes and goes for me but it hit me at the right time the other day at a nine ball tournament. :D

Getting in stroke isnt all that hard. Maybe 45 minutes, sometimes not even. A weird thing. The other night I'm watching a Jesse Bowman recorded match on ustream and I go down stairs and proceed to beat the 9 ball ghost in a race to 5! That probably sounds pretty insignificnet to most of you but to an APA 5 like myself, whose never put a 2 pack together, it was incredible! The best I've ever played.

I think I'll try watching that again tonight before league:)

I have been conduction an experiment on my self over the last couple of weeks, trying to get some kind of grip on my league play.

What I have found, is that I am at my best;
A) after practicing for 8 hours the day/night before, then
B) In the morning after a good sleep.

Under this scenario, I run racks rather constantly (for about an hour) and then degrade back to my normal state (Failed runout artist).

Durring long hours of parctice I am not at my best, and if I don't practice enough the night before, I am still not at my best the next morning.

Dead stroke

I'm in dead stroke when my opponets miss. I find out when I miss that i'm out of stroke again. lol
Funny thing is when I'm really in dead stroke I don't remember it. Thats the truth!

Dead stroke is when you want to kill yourself right? Right after you miss that ball in hand shot. LOL

after having a table in my basement for the last 5 years, the mechanical part of the game is solid enough to be there every day. Also when I feel off its easy to fix since I built it :) Like is often said....I added, and added, then took away, took away, took away.....Occams razor, you know?

The REAL deal is what kind of mood I'm in. When rested, in a good mood, no stress.....the game seems easy. After a bad day....it seems like work!

I used to think being in stroke was an elusive paranormal event. Now I realize its just well intended time at the table.
