How SVB jump with his playing cue

Tips...hmm

Well, the technique is everything. I use to jump with my old Lucasi back in the 90's BUT the best tip at that time was LePro and maybe Triangle...
If you listen the sound of their shaft when they hit balls with it, you'll realize that they were using hard tips (medium hard whatever...).
It's definitely easier to jump a ball with a harder tip (physics 101) but their technique was flawless. They were even able to dig deep into the cueball without miscueing. Isn't that fascinating?...lol... Ohhh and they were breaking with their playing cue most of the time...haha
Now, we have the tips and chalk that will make you pro player...no miscueing, no squirting, no deflection....but no feeling at all...LOL.

Miss those times for sure...

There is a video out there somewhere of Earl talking about when he first started hitting jump shots in a tournament and Luther Lassiter (I think) calling whole thing a foul. Does anyone remember that?

I forget which SVB vs. Somebody match it was, but the Kamui rep was in the commentary booth as a guest. The commentator asked him what tip Shane used, and he said: "Shane uses a Kamui Hard, which we designed as a break tip, as his playing tip. Not something I'd recommend for your average player."

BTW, regarding laminated shafts, I've jumped many times with my OB Break Cue (Samarsa tip) with no problems.

I saw that video, I think it's from 2014 USBTC, which Kamui sponsors. The rep also explained the difference between Kamui black (more flex), and Kamui brown (more rigid). Shane breaks with his playing cue as well.

Earl has you covered...

I forgot about those extendo fingers! That made my day!

I can't give you more greenies :(

Here's a question that may be hard to answer. We know Shane uses a standard non-Clear Kamui, but of those that do use the Clear. Are people still able to jump with a Clear Kamui? Ever since I put one on (a soft) my cue I've completely lost my ability to jump. And I mean even getting the ball over two quarters is now hard.

i used to be able to jump fairly decent 20 years ago before jump cues were popular. now that ive gotten used to jump cues, it a lot more difficult to jump with a full length cue.

Shane did a TAR podcast about two years ago. He said he uses an original Kamui Brown Medium. Also, I can jump with my full cue with extension with a Z2, without jacking up. It's all about having a clean stroke. I do get higher with my jump stick though.
