Bought this table and i have no idea. The tables i have played before sure have had looser pockets and i sure like these more

they are tight enough to cause aggravation until you learn concentration and discipline in shooting. gerald

since I don't mind doing conversions using only a picture

the front of that pocket is 4.5" and is 4 3/8" at the back of the pocket I'm basically 95% sure on this but do me a favor and check my mcguyver work with a ruler hommie.

Geez dude if you want an accurate measurement get a ruler and measure it yourself.

They are from Finland and may not appreciate the nuances of English that we take for granted. So the question may be subjective, i.e., regardless of measurement, are his pockets "Tight" compared to other tables. So, that being said, a non-mechanics answer is ... hell yeah those are some tight pockets! Others opinions may be different.

Thanks for reply's. Checked with a ruler.. converted to inches and it says 4.3 inches..
I like these. I really have to consentrate when practising.

Mine are 4 1/8 on a nine foot Gold Crown. Gets you in stroke, quick.

Check again:sorry: if you place the two balls centered between the points of the cushions so that they are splitting the balls down the middle you'll find out that your pocket is about 4 5/8"ths. You measure the pockets from point to point...not in the middle. If you had a straight line that went from point to point, that straight line would also pass through the center of the two balls...not as you have pictured. The ball on the left is to far into the pocket, pull it out until the point of the pocket is splitting the ball in half from side to side like the other ball.

Glen

PS. Even the 6 ball is a little to deep in the pocket to get a correct measurement...pull it out a little too.

tight pockets are great and I love them. They will not get you in stroke though unless your a pro.

playing pool and practicing are different. Many shots are not possible with pockets that are too tight. Fun it is to me but most people I know do NOT like pockets less than 4.5. If you can run a 100 on your table then its time to make it tight. If you can't run two racks then the pockets are too tight. Sometimes I tighten up only one end of the table so you can play one pocket on the head end and leave the other normal. That is the best of both worlds. Of course if you have extra rails its easy to change out a GC 3 lets say without even popping the top.

At any rate its a personal preference but the fact remains- pockets too tight (less than 4.5) do not promote a free stroke. Unless your name is Efren. Cheating the pocket is key to playing good pool IMO

Maybe you can show some pics of your pockets

My GC V snooker table had 3 inch pockets, I loved it but everyone else didn't. Tight pockets really change your game pace and most people do not adjust in the right fashion.

tight pockets

pockets look good 41/2 out side 43/8 inside two balls should hang up
mid way in pocket. finish table and just play. john
