How to Dye a linen wrap

Can anyone recommend which dye to use that would change a wrap installed on a cue that's double white/brown into say a darker "brown".

I ask this because the wrap is getting dirty and requires cleaning all the time (plus I'd like to change the color ?

Also how is it done. Thanks.

Dark Brown clothes dye will do it. But where do they sell that stuff now? You used to could find clothes dye in the grocery stores back when I started, but I have not seen any in years. But I have been looking either.

If you are trying to dye a wrap that is already on a cue, you will be in for a horrible outcome. The waxes/starches likely used when finishing the wrap and the oils from your hands will inhibit the dye and cause blotchy results.

Couldn't you just clean the wrap first?
Then maybe sand it to open the linen,
Then dye and re press and seal?
I'm only guessing as I have never tried it

Woodcraft sells aniline dyes. It works on wood, hands, concrete floors, live centers, and counter tops.

Hahaha, and I bet that it has to wear off short of scrubbing with Acetone.

I recently used a black shoe dye and tried to dye a cork wrap.

After two coats, it didn't seem to take 100% and I could see that there would be problems with it rubbing off on your hand. Very flat with no shine.

Probably great on leather, just not cork.
Have to try a Sharpie next. J/K.
