How to get marks out of balls

I just read this. Why not use wax? I'm having a feeling mine was also a bad reply. LOL

Wax changes how the balls interact with the bed cloth and the rails. It has a great effect on draw and bank angles. Wax wears off in the course of the match.

If you are the weaker player, it is a good way to screw up your stronger opponent since just as he gets used to the slip-and-slide, it goes away. Of course to actually do that in a match would be unethical. :groucho:

I guess I'll pass on trying the wax/sealant out. Just thought maybe because the HD Poxy has a higher heat resistance, it would last longer with the friction of the balls. I also have some 3D One that's just polish and no wax, I'll give that one a try.

After that I switched to the Aramith ball cleaner mentioned in this thread and have been much less impressed.

Obviously, I don't have black spots to deal with so I can't comment on that.

I never let my balls get that dirty, but found the 9 ball had some small black scuff marks. Used a small drop on each ball in the bucket and ran it for 2 minutes. I'm happy with the results. Getting ready to eat dinner, then will be hitting them for several hours. Will report back on playability.

I use a magic eraser for hard to remove spots. Works good for miscue marks on the cue ball too.

I wiped the balls down with some Wolfgang as a quick detailer to make sure no polish is left on the balls. Nice clean balls. lol

If I ruin my balls, I'll just buy new ones. The balls are nicely clean. Pool player's being hustled to buy a small $15 dollar watered down ball polish. LOL

I have tried taking the ball spits off the table but the black spots persist, I firmly think it is the rubber from the back of the pockets, it is an old GC3 I am going to try the aramith ball cleaner I just ordered some if that doesn’t work I might try the toothpaste. I have thought about using a magic erase in the past but I am afraid that might be to abrasive.

wipre a wet ball with the mr. clean eraser. that will take off al spot rub lightly.

then run mequires #34 final inspection in your ball cleaner just a touch of it.. it isnt a wax but works perfectly and is formulated not to attract dust. they are a giant company in the trade.

aramith ball cleaner is not made by them or probably formulated either so most likely just a repackaged car cleaner of some sort and marked up.

Are the pocket liners all gummy? That's a known problem on GC pocket liners.

Cut up an old T-shirt and drape it over the liners and tape it in place. See if that stops the marks.

I have a homemade polisher too. I had an extra set of really ugly balls so I shook a bit of comet cleanser in and gave them a squirt of windex. It really made them sparkle. The carpet and my polisher pad were filthy.

Anyone here who claims that a magic eraser dabbed in denatured alcohol is too abrasive on pool balls has not tried it. Works great for getting miscue scratches off cue balls.

Substitute micro fiber cloth if you like. Saliva and thumb works too. Tip scuffs; prolly use the alcohol.

Main thing clean _before_ you polish.
