What works for me is that I take the cues out of the case and insert a bounce dryer sheet down each of the compartments in the case, being careful to leave enough sticking out so you can remove the sheet. I then put the lid back on the case to seal it up. Let it sit for a day or so and you will find it helps a bunch. If your cue has a wrap on it you will find that it smells worse than the case and probably is the main source of the smoke odor. I normally clean the shafts (normal shaft maintenance). For the butt, I will spray the wrap with a bit of febreeze and let it air out while the dryer sheets are working on the case.
