how to get to vegas through APA

I find that South West Airlines is the best way though not the cheapest.

Other than that, if you wish to go and compete ti the World Team Championships (Is that the new name?), you must first qualify. Winning your divisional playoffs thus qualifying for your LTC, or Local Team Championships, usually held in May or June, then winning a qualifying spot there for the World Team Championships held in August.
or....

You could do what my team had done before. We make reservations in about March, we seem to get better prices then and decide to go qualify or not. If we don't qualify there are mini's to play in, local pool halls there, and it's always good and fun to have the experience of just being there, it's kinda like pool city for a couple of weeks and it can be a culture shock though

It's is very easy. Follow these steps:

1. Quit the APA.
2. Join the BCAPL
3. Pay entry fee and play in Vegas.

There are a number of ways to gain a trip to Vegas in APA but honestly you will spend way more money trying to get to Vegas than what you will gain, unless you play Mini Mania tournaments in Vegas and win several of them or are good enough to place consistently place high in the other tournaments.

In terms of teamplay, in my experience there are basically two types of teams who usually make it to Vegas: 1) the kind of teams who stay in the middle or top of the week-to-week rankings and step up their game during the local Vegas qualifiers or 2) the stacked team of sandbaggers and underrated lower players who play just well enough to make it to the Vegas qualifiers without getting their handicaps raised and then shoot lights out during the Vegas qualifiers.

You cannot take APA too seriously or you will get burnt out on pool very fast. APA is designed to introduce new players to the game and provide a way for existing players to have a fun night out with friends. Winning a trip to Vegas is just a bonus and should not be your only goal or else you will be very disappointed and unhappy.

Around here for 8 ball you need a four that plays like a six that dont mind losing when needed. And a five that plays like a seven.

..... or you could do this.

Personally, I like the idea of having to earn your way there, but like I say, The APA isn't
for everybody, for me The BCA leagues really weren't for me.
Nothing against them, I just prefer the APA

Don't forget the option of playing in a franchise where the league op doesn't give a rat's ass to enforce proper scorekeeping. That way, you and your pals play against teams that fail to mark defensive shots, and you also fail to mark them. No body marks them. Most of the division is probably populated by teams that have 4-6 underranked players. Win.

A local NAPA money league started a few months ago and if it were not for the recent birth of my first son and other things standing in the way, I would join. I prefer the BCA-based rules and BCA-type format over APA any day but unfortunately APA is more prevalent in most areas.

Huge misconception so don't listen to the naysayers.

If you don't think they get caught, ask the team from here that had one person get raised causing them to have to shoot 4 with 19 points to then have another get raised and then have to shoot 3 to 15 points there.

I have shot many many many people from all over this country and Canada and have had 2 issues with someone being under rated and knew she was very close to getting raised and expected it anytime.

With 2 threads concerning bcapl nationals with over 100 combined posts and none of them positive you wanna go there with your reply. :)

So would it be correct to assume that you lost to a lower rated player and could have never happened if they weren't a sandbaggin' SOB?

Those 100 posts are from 3 or 4 people, two of which did not even go to the Nationals!!

Troll whiners.

Recently joined a league for the first time. I was wondering how a team would get to vegas.

I play both BCA & APA. They both have good & differen things to offer you. Don't listen to the APA sucks crowd. Most probably just caught a SL5 on a good night & got rolled. Happens to everyone.

Play it, get better, and enjoy.

The amount of sandbagging people think/claim happens is probably the biggest myth since Loch-ness monster.
