I recently purchase a brunswick gold crown table light. I want to replace the fluorescent bulbs. 8 of them. Can anyone help me what watts of fluorescent should be use? Height of the light from the floor or table? Or any other instructions to maximize its use? Thanks.

You need to match the the lamps to the ballast on the fixture. If the ballast calls fot a 25 or 32 w lamp you need to choose one of those wattages. You can change the lamp color by heat rating something like 4100 works good for a table. Od mount the light at least 32" above the table. Youll properly have to adjust t for the light size & table size.

I would get rid of the Fluorescent and go with LED Tubes. They are the nuts.

The ones that I ordered are from www.creativelightings.com

Don't skimp on these - you get what you pay for.

LED Tube replacement

They retro fit into the lamp holders themselves, just remove the ballasts -

- if you have the grid type diffuser grates, I would suggest you get the frosted LED's instead of the clear. I got the clear and had the chrome grid diffuser but had to change to the frost solid lens because of the lines it created. The clear lamps are almost like spot lights.

I think the GC lights are 4 foot T8s?

I too am interested in this as I will be purchasing a similar Brunswick GC light soon.

I thought I read somewhere that the light should be mounted higher up than a traditional light given it's size and coverage area. Something like 78" from the floor, which would be 48" or so from the table, not 32 - 38 like a traditional light. Which means when mounted to 8 foot ceilings (96"), and a light height of 8 - 10", the top of the light would have to be only 8" or so from the ceiling!

So is it better in this case to use very short chains or just somehow flush mount it to the ceiling? If mounting via chains, better to use 4 points or just two? (not sure since I don't have the light yet what type of mounting hardware is on the light) Will flush mounting it cause inefficient lighting because of the extra height? Also, any tips on getting this installed over an existing table given the size and weight?

How did you guys mount those? I like the clean install look. Unfortunately in my current room, the ceilings are only 8' (it's upstairs in a loft area), I'm worried because of the supposed height of the lamp (about 78" off the ground) that I will only have 6" - 9" of clearance between the top of the lamp and the ceiling. So the pole thing might look pretty stupid. Looks great in your pics though...

Makes sense. Was more wondering what sort of hardware is attached to the ceiling and/or light. For instance, if you need to install those junction boxes in the ceiling (like what support ceiling fans), or can use toggle bolts, screws, etc. To support the weight of the light.

how did you mount the rods to the light? is there a picture to show it? cause on my light there are just 4 screw hooks at the corner of the light. thanks.

Bumping this thread up, great installations!!

I'm curious as well, how did you mount the rods to the light? I'm trying to track down one of these lights to put in the new house, as I'm picking up a GC in a few weeks as well.

Yes, please inform us how did you install the wooden stick? It is better looking than the chains. Furthermore, are you able hide the wiring in the stick?

So what is the recommended height for a Gold Crown light with 4 8ft Florescent bulbs. Should it be higher than the 30 -36 inches generally recommended for pool lights because of the size and light output?

An inquiring mind wants to know:D

Patrick....the light looks great......how's the rails playing for you?
Hope all is well....thank you for your business.

Beautiful install! I used 4 chains on mine, its in the basement and instead of a dropped ceiling we are painting the ceiling black, so the industrial look kinda matches. I think I started out with mine 38"-40" above table but I kept bumping my head while racking so I raised it a couple inches. It did not make a difference as far as light quality went so I don't think its real critical to get a certain height. Anything a few inches close to what others have mentioned should work fine, don't be afraid to experiment a little.
