ledrums said:I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are talking about scooping the cue ball by shooting the tip underneath the ball to jump it. That is not the legal way to jump. The legal way is by pounding the cue ball into the slate which makes it jump due to compression. I'm sure many people could tell you how to properly do this.

Usually, depending on how high to hit the cue ball, the angle from the butt of the cue would usually be between 33°-45° above level and aiming at the cueball. Have a throwing motion with the cue while hitting the shot at around 1-1 1/2 tips below center. It is possible: 1) to use draw with jump 2) to follow with jump and 3) to perform a massé shot by jumping. The latter of the three is usually the most difficult and performed by four trick shot artists that I know of: M. Massey, S. Pelenga, Yow, and Jamison Neu.
