I just want to share with everyone how to really wreck your shoulder.
2 tears in the bicep muscle where it connects in the shoulder. A torn cartilage plenty big. And need all the ligaments reattached. And i mean all. I was what you call real loose.
The time table on this type of repair is 10 weeks in the sling. Very little movement or excersize. The ligaments are real tight and need to heal where they are attached. Then i can do some more aggressive excercizes. Right now i can't hardly move
i did this in aug 2008. I was working for charter communications.
I go to knock on a door at 6:30 at night. The lady that lives there doesn't know i'm coming. When i went to the front door there was a sign that said please use the back door. So to the back door i go.
When i get back there the steps are cement. No railing. Plus there is a little 5"step all around bottum of the first normal 9 " step. Then there are 2 more steps with a small 4'x4' platform in front of the door.
Like i said there is no railing and if you stand on the platform when she opens the door you will have to back down the steps. Well she comes to the door but won't answer it. I can see her shadows from the light from another room on the ceiling inside.
I knock 3 times and decided to go. At this time i am standing on the top step before the platform. It's dark with no light back there either and its all cement.
As i'm turning i step down one more step, then the other. Almost still turning i take another step that i think is the ground but there is that 5 inch little step.
So i stepped out further than that step thinking i was on the ground and no ground. By the time i realized i was falling i was almost level with the ground. I just got my right arm up in time to keep from breaking my head.
My elbow hit first jammed my right arm up into my shoulder.i broke my back in 2000 and busted up my right knee in 1996 and the pain was right up there with both of them. I layed there for about 5 minutes and then got up and left.
The next day i went for xrays because it hurt pretty bad. Xray were negative so no broken bones.
I dislocated my left shoulder in 1994. Put it down in my armpit. This seemed to heal up by itself in a couple of months so i figured this would also. No such luck.
I played pool now for about a year with this shoulder like this. And i would like to get this message out.
You can really have that shoulder wrecked and use it pretty good. Mine got real bad the last 6 months. I never practiced because it was too sore the next day.
If i was in a tournament the second day was really tough. Not only sore but what your body is going through always trying to repair the damage everyday. The shoulder is kind of like a door. If the hinges are loose your in big trouble.
So if you have a shoulder that is bothering you and you fell and hurt it that shoulder could be alot worse than you think and could and probably should be fixed.
My left shoulder that i discoed in 1994 never healed very good. The doc that just fixed my right shoulder moved it around and it was pretty obvious that that one should have been fixed when i did it.
So trying to do everything with my left arm is kind of tough. Now i notice it catching and popping because i have to use it right now.
The good news is i don't have to use my left arm to stroke the cue. Just have to make a bridge with it. After going through this with the right shoulder i'm not too excited about having him cut on the left one.
Again if you got trouble with your shoulder it could probably be fixed.
Have a great day geno.............4 to 5 months for full recovery.
