Just lightly brush it with a piece of 220 sandpaper.

I use the Ultimate Tip Tool, or if not handy, I grab a piece of 100 grit and lightly sand it

Sandpaper is all you need. I use 180 grit, but you can go coarser or finer, depending pn what you have at hand.

Phenolic tips will not hold chalk. Ruffing them with sand paper will allow you to apply chalk better but it will not stay on the tip for long. Usually only one shot!!

That's why I prefer epoxy-soaked leather tips now.

Use a tip pic on your tip, tip will last longer as well.

Anything you'd use for leather is worth a try. You could even rub it on smooth concrete.

it's a break shaft/tip. One shot is all you need.

That being said, I would rather use something like the Samsara j/b tips.

FWIW....Brad scuffers were borne' when they first made plastic type tips that woorked only when scuffed. Get a new scuffer.
