I have a cuetec lying around that I want to give to a friend as a first cue. However, the shaft I've found is gets too sticky too quickly.

I've tried using the cuetec cue conditioner on it:

Is it just a lost cause on the graphite shaft, or does anyone have suggestions on how to clean/slick the shaft?

Graphite is worse than fiberglass, but I've used ArmorAll successfully in the past. It appears to be the same thing as the Cuetec product, but at a fraction of the cost.

My mistake actually, it's a fiberglass shaft... I'm never going to use it anyways so I might as well try any product on it... if I strip the finish so be it :)

i've sanded fiberglass shafts (lightly) with some 220 or 320. it helps a lot with the stickiness! that and a good wipe down with some alcohol.

i dont own one and never have.

I bet some good old fashioned Pledge furnitur polish will slick the crap put of it.
use it on the bottom of those boogie board snow sleds and wow..
also use it on plastic a plastic slide on my daughters swing set. and a great tip is to spray your snow shovel with it. shit works wonders on that. i figur it turns a cuetech into a non-stick cooking surface. make sure you hold on tight to the but it'll probably go flying.

if you try this please post the results

I have used normal fine grit sandpaper on mine and it works great.

I haven't tried the micro fine sandpaper like this http://www.cuesight.com/slipps.html

oil and fire should do wonders for it.

no but seriously try mr. clean magic eraser. i've never used it on a fiber glass cue but i can't imagine it not being awesome for that too.

> I've had good results with spinning them in my lathe and sanding from 600-2000 and re-waxing. They come out very close to the factory finish. Tommy D.

I make graphite shafts that are smoother than almost any cue there is. I think what you are referring to is the type of resin often used in either graphite or fibreglass cues seem to be not as slick as wood shafts.

As for cleaning, lightly dampen a paper towel, wipe it down , then just use a dry paper towel to dry it. Keeping the shaft clean is the best way to keeping it smooth.

I have a friend that used ArmorAll on his Aramith balls and they were so slick that they didn't play right. I bet if you cleaned the shaft beforehand with a cue cleaner or alcohol, then used the ArmorAll, that would do the trick!!!
