How to solve this problem with rail inserts?

Just curious on how other mechanics prefer to tackle this problem. The previous mechanic chose to nail in the inserts and some of them are missing with a chunk of wood.

I thought about that. but if the insert goes bad, I don't think I could get it back out to replace it.
Donny, either drill out the insert hole to fit a Diamond bolt insert, fixing it that way, or pick up a Global rail bolt nut plate, and mount it as Global does, problem fixed...LOL

Back to the beginning?

I believe I would remove everything and start over with someting like this.

I assume its not a tnut fixture.

When you need to replace the insert after epoxing the trick is to insert a bolt heat it up with a soldering iron the glue will soften up then you can remove the insert. This similiar to how to remove joint pins in cues that are bent, granted we have something to hold on to. So you might have to stake or double nut the bolt into the insert.

If you remove the insert file one side flat then epoxy the insert back in this will create a glue damm to keep th piece from backing out again or breaking loose again.

I think upgrading insert is the ticket and if you have the means to create the countersink then the rail plate would be the nuts for the long term fix.
