According to what you previously posted (Archer's Facebook quote), the 9-ball will be on the spot, not the 1-ball.
Why wouldn't players cut break? The box is big enough for a nice cut break playing the 1 in the side?
you know the first year i went to the Derby they were racking the 9ball on the spot....i was sitting there with a buddy of mine and didnt even notice until he pointed it out,its been 10 to 15 years ago,we were sitting with John Schmitt actually and he was just starting to get noticed on tour,and i believe he confirmed that also. I hate the they do that,but i am sure it kept players from pocketing as many balls and particularly the nineball.....just a blast from the past....lol
Yawn. They've been playing with those break rules for six years, as the previous post stated. If you can't adapt in that amount of time, silly excuses about the break just come off as sour grapes.
The USA teams have been outplayed in recent Mosconi cups, certainly in the last three years. That said, I think you have a good shot this year - hopefully it's close throughout.

I put the European team at 2-1 favorites, and they're not even fielding their best team (no Toastie).
That was playing with the break rules that completely favor the Europeans. This year that has been changed and the One Ball will actually be spotted on the spot (what a novel idea)....and the "cut break" will no longer be used.
This makes the USA team 7/5 favorite in my opinion, of course it could be 8/5 by the time the first rack is cracked.
It's still a lot of luck, but the coin at least won't be "two headed".

On a serious note - if I see guys breaking on a table and breaking out of their skin you sure as hell know when I'm on that table I'm breaking from the exact same spot at the exact same speed. If I can do it, the top players from America can do it.

Of course I'm routing for the British players but when it comes to say a USA vs Netherlands match I'm routing for my favourite player and don't care for the nations. This is why I find it so laughable at some of the excuses I hear about why one side has underachieved. Home advantage...what's that? Unless a player from Arizona plays in Manilla there is no real advantage to the home player and especially not at the Mosconi Cup where the venues are climate controlled and played with the best of the best equipment. In the Mosconi cup it comes down to who gets the first blow in a very short race and the end result is down to which team had the most first blows throughout the event.
