I just played bottom right. I can see the correct path of the cue ball. It would probably work better on a faster table, or with someone with a better stroke than me. I also played it with a tip and a half of draw. This brought the cue ball along the rail just below the upper left pocket and then down table between the 8 and 9. Seems like it would be a lot less reproduceable though. I did notice though, that very small differences in cue ball starting position change the travel of the cue ball quite a bit with each shot.

Slightest bit of follow, lots of left spin, heavy stroke. If spin still left on CB when it hit the 4th rail, you might bump the 9. I think it's really tough to hit this shot bad enough to not have a good shot on the 8..

If I were going to try the 4-railer, I would definitely shoot it center ball, though, as someone else suggested, and really pop it, as you suggested, trying to get as tight an angle as possible out of that bottom left corner. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out good, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it got ugly, as I've had a fair bit of each result on this shot in the past.
BTW, Jude, I tried the second-rail reverse tonight on my table a few times. It's a GC with fairly worn 860, and the humidity is off the charts here today. I was able to get there on the third try, but I damn near broke my wrist doing it, lol. The draw certainly helps to get the cb moving a little faster after the first cushion, but on slower equipment you still have to whack it pretty good.

I tried the shots shown and talked about for 15 minutes on my 9 foot tight pocket Diamond Pro and none of them worked for me but center ball works every time and the spin is killed on the 4th rail so the cue ends up dead center of the end rail a couple inches from the rail. Great learning tool and thanks to you Jude I will get out when left this shot.
