how would you play this?

as i said above... i missread the post and played the shot like the 8 was froze... in order to make this shot with the 8 off the rail you have to hit it "rail first" and that is a VERY tough shot... i would consider playing safe if i was in this trap...

well... i dont ever plan on being in the Chicago area... but i will be at the Derby... i guess i will see you there?

now i dont claim to be an "A" player (but i am getting there quickly) and you maybe one... i dont know... there are several thousand "A" players in the world... you might be one of them... i just dont understand why you are asking help from poeple that for the most part have no clue... i appoligized for my error in the previous post and thats all your going to get... i didnt mean what i said about you "Not being an "A" player" because everyone has a different idea of what an "A" player is... in my oppinion the Average "Shortstop" isnt an "A" player... i consider the BEST roadies (Such as Danny B. and Hillbilly) and some of the up and coming pro's to be "A" players... and players like Efren are AA players... i cant gauge your game because i dont know who you are and/or how you play... but i doubt you would play Danny Basavich or Hillbilly, or poeple there speed even for whatever they want... i know there's no way in hell i would... and that my friend is as close to an appoligy as your going to get from me... accept it or not...

let's just say this, you have no stance to dought me because you don't know anything about me. i know the players you mention and i was their speed at one time and am either there now or close to being there. as far as me posting this type thread it's obvious you didn't read my response to you well. i said i do it for FUN and EDUCATION. geez- louise i thought what i said explained itself. i accept your apology though and from your progress i guess i might see you at the open next year.

like i said... you might be an "A" player... its not my place to "rate your speed" since i dont have a clue who you are... and yes i did read that after the arguement was over... thats why i appoligized... you will hopefully see me at the open if i can make the trip... i cant promise i will be there but im making an effort to try to make it this year... i heard its good for your game and i would love to give it a whirl and see if i can "crack anybody off"... i always try to go to the bigger tournaments and play because its a feeling like no other to me when you crack off a champion... anyways... sorry for causing all the arguments... im not use to this whole "discussion board" thing just yet and i will read the post's a little more carefully next time.

anyways... im off to the poolhall to try and crack someone off... may all your rolls be good and your strokes be pure...

Geez, talk about hard to impress... if Efren's only an AA player, what does it take to achieve world champion status? :p

Skins, thanks for starting threads like this. They are fun.

Actionhound, I do appreciate you posting solutions too, even if you didn't read the post right. However, I don't think its right to say this board is basically clueless. Although there are all skill levels that post here, including beginners, there are still a good number of very knowledgeable people that post here, including some top pros.

Call me clueless if you want, I don't care, but please try not to insult AzBilliards.

that wasnt a "slam" on this board... i know i got out of line and i appoligize for that... i was not thinking clearly and let my cocky nature get the best of me... i know there are a good number of top pro's that post on here (i know alot of them personally)... that response was in reference to the "3 rail kick" solution... and the guy might have just been joking... im not sure... but that was a little "clueless"... anyway... like i said above... i appoligize for the problems...

Woof Woof, lol. As much as I'd like to make it a trip down to Lousville for the DCC, I'm saving my travel dollars for Vegas in the spring.

Fantasy Time

how would you play this for the the cash. the 1 is frozen and the 8 is 1/2 inch off the rail. i didn't play safe this time.

CueTable Help

This would simply suck. If cinching the 8-ball leaving a tough long cut on the 9-ball isn't the shot, then down in a blaze of glory with my fantasy shot. And the cueball would travel exactly the path shown.

?

Hey skins........You mentioned that you are in the Chicago area....so am I and I'm curious as to whether we know each other......if you want to, PM me and we'll exchange names.............Ghost

I've been experimenting with this all day. I just can't get the speed right. The key is to come into the 9ball off the side rail.

Hal, this might be the funniest thing ive seen all day... thanks for the laugh...

*disclaimer*
i did not intend to offend or make fun of anyone in this post... :)

I think it depends on:
1. How the tables plays?
2. If I am shooting good?
3. Who I am playing?

Playing safe is an iffy shot that may leave your opponent a good shot or a better way to play you safe. I would probably cut the 8 and then banking or cutting the 9.

LOL.. exactly.;)
Stranger still, I set up the shot, trying to bank it like I said. I jawed it the first three times, and pretty much stuck the cueball (the one ball !) right where the 8-ball was. On the third try, I came up long on the 8-ball, and it bank two cushions into the side (standard bank). The cueball traveled all of two inches, so the resulting shot was still pretty heinous.
