I just got of these things and its a hoot. It has a really nice camcorder and takes great quality video's.

So, I set up a viewing platform for it so I could record my stroke.

I've never seen my stroke in action. I think I know what i'm doing when I stroke, but after seeing a few videos, what I'm really doing isn't exactly what I thought I was doing. It's not bad what I'm doing, its just that I never knew exactly what it was. I never knew I was dropping my tip so much at the end of my stroke on some shots.

If you have never seen your stroke in action, you should. It was very enlighting to me.

Also, you can store full mpeg4 movies on it, so I got some so I can watch during the down time at tourney's.

Who knew a cell phone would be a great pool aid.

All is needed now is a CTE app :)

FWIW...

Evo

The Evo is the nuts. I think Skynet from the movie Terminator was loosly based on the capabilities of the Evo. I added a slingbox and can watch cable on mine now. I also dropped my video from the lesson I had with Scott Lee and watch it from time to time. The kickstand is sweet too. I can't believe all phones aren't coming out with them now.

The main point here is that video analysis is crucial. ;) phone or video camera, whatever you can use. I record every time I'm at the pool hall now for both form/mechanics - as well as good runs, mistakes, or other potential issues.

After watching the videos I took, I have become a bigger proponet of videoing yourself.

I haven't been back to the table yet, but I have a much clear concept of what I am doing, know, what to work on and then be able to compare before and after. I thought I was really pausing, but not as much as I thought.

It's these little things I believe that will help establish excellent consistency. After all isn't that all we really want anyway?

Oh, there are two apps, Dynomaster and Trackmaster, that are just a hoot and are gonna get me into trouble with my stang. I've already did 2.5g's braking and .5g's in a turn.....

Little update,

After reviewing the videos of my stroke over and over and making a few little changes, I'm pocketing more balls and my position play accuracy really has improved.

I mean little changes, nothing major just refinement of what I was already doing.

Get some video of yourself, it goes a long way.

The other cool thing about these phones is you can instantly upload videos straight to youtube which can enable you to post videos of your stroke in the ask the instructor forum. I have the incredible and i love it. The only thing that is missing is the stand like the EVO.

I love my phone

Been loading all these apps and doing so much with the Evo I completely forgot about the cam corder !! Good thinking man ,the Evo rocks !!

I agree with the posters above, recording yourself is one of the best ways to improve!

I just recently started recording myself shooting pool in my basement. I have about 15 9ball break and runs on tape, and now I'm trying to get a high run in 14.1 on tape. As soon as I get the confidence to upload a few vids to vimeo, you guys can make fun of my game.
