I have an older Huebler cue, probably a cheaper model.I am thinking about giving it to my grandson & buying a new cue for myself.I kinda like the feel of the Huebler & might buy another one.Is there anywhere to buy one from a dealer reasonably priced?I found an old site that's no longer around.Who handles them? What might be similar hit?
THANKS

I know they were selling a bunch of older Hueblers that were unplayed at www.cueauctions.com a while back. I, personally, wouldn't buy a newer one because the quality has gone way down. If you want another Missouri cuemaker try Jerry Terbroch ?SP? or Andy Gilbert. Jerry makes CNC pointed cues and Andy makes spliced cues. I'm about to order a custom jump-break cue from Andy!

There is no cue that plays quite like a Huebler. They play great. I have an old Ivory Chess Cue for auction on E-Bay right now - this cue has a tremendous hit because of the old growth shafts, the staghorn joint and ferrules, and the nylon insert - which seats the shaft tightly.

I am a big Huebler fan. I still have a U.S. Open, a new unplayed Ivory Chess cue (I didn't need 2, so i'm selling one made in 1984) , and an Ivory Twist cue, along with a couple of very old (1970's) cues.

I am not just saying this because of my auction. I really think the old Huebler custom shop cues, are among the best hitting cues ever made. Paul Huebler is one of the golden age names in billiards.

Here's another nice one - this was a $1600 custom shop cue (the Custom Chess is $2500 plus). I think $850 would get this one and I think that's a pretty good deal.

my friend has a huebler cue and I wanted to see if I could get any info on it that you all may know. The butt is pretty plain and is only made of one type of wood which looks to be cocobolo (i hope that is spelled right). It has no wrap. huebler is spelled out like this on the butt cap in gold letters.

the cue looks to have seen reasonable use. About what years was that insignia used ? thank you for your input. if the value could be approximated, it would be appreciated.

Alot of the older Hueblers i have seen say "Huebler" on them. But it is written upside down on the butt. So you would actually read it by holding the stick upside down. Shaft on bottom, butt and bumper on top. So i guess it just depends on what year these were all made. Some were actually made by Meucci....=-)

This is one of their early lines of cues about 25 years old. This plain jane model is pretty common and is probably worth $200 - $300 in excellent condition.

I have a huebler from the late '80's I think I am going to send in for a spruce up. I have been looking at their website and calling them to see what I needed to do. Anyway, the website said you could only get cues from them now. I would look at maybe getting a new one for your grandson and keeping the old one. The plain hueblers seemed reasonably priced. The more expensive ones.... well, I would probably go with a custom maker.

For whatever reason I never really fell in love with my huebler. But recently I have been playing with it some and liking it more. Weird I guess. I have let a couple good players hit with it and both kind of liked it. So I guess the cue does something right. I think I am going to have the wrap changed and get everything looking good. I have never liked the color of the wrap, so maybe that small thing soured me on the cue or something. Mine is a 4pt 4 veneer into tulipwood. Butt has ebony rectangles in the tulipwood. Tulipwood ringwork on shaft and joint area is somewhat cool and unique I think. Dunno what mosdel, etc... this was. Purchased in 1988 I think, ordered directly from huebler.

I've had this one for about 20 years.

I have still never gotten a straight answer on what modle it is. Best I can gather is it might be an "H-8", but that's a guess.

About to send it off to Proficient for refinish.

I have some Huebler cues that I might sell or trade.

This cue is from the "HI" series. I think this is the first line of cues that Paul Huebler produced.
When I called Huebler on the phone a couple of years ago they told me that the HI series was only made from 1973-76.
This cue is the HI-4 from that series. The shaft is still straight!
I have only seen two other HI series cues besides mine and they were for sale on ebay.

Here's an off the rack Huebler from the early 80's.
This one had the words "Cue by" and "Huebler" in black.
The shaft is still straight!

I really like the old Huebler cues myself. I don't think anyone in he late 70's and early 80's was getting the quality of shaft wood that paul Huebler was using.
As an example, I've probably seen 20 or more Joss cues from that era and almost none have retained straight shafts. (Not that a 68-72 Joss isn't a fine cue but there is no way you could convince me that they used the quality of shaft wood that Huebler was using.) The Michigan climate is hell on vintage cues.

I would let the checkered Huebler go for about $200 but I'm a bit attached to the 73-76. I would need a lot more that cue.

You can really see a good pic of the early HI Huebler logo in the link above if you are interested in older Hueblers. All of the very early Hueblers were mabe with a brass pin, but even then he was using the nylon insert rather than the much more common brass inserts. Notice the bumper on the 73-76 HI series as well. It might be real rubber .Huebler made the change to the characteristic brown bumper later on though I don't know exactly when.

If anyone else has an HI series I would appreciate it if you could post pics or send them to me and I would be happy to post them for the group.

Thanks,
Eddie
