Huebler joint protector?

Have any of you ever heard of original Huebler joint protectors?

I have an H-14 with what looks like a cocobolo joint protector. The thing that strikes me is that it has a nylon insert. It does have a look that makes one think it is perhaps as old as the cue (in very nice shape, but old).

Since it has a nylon insert it occurred to me this might be an original Huebler item. I have never heard of such a thing nor seen such a thing that I remember but I am supposing it is possible.

Any idea?

I think some of the Custom Shop cues came with JPs. The ones I have thought to be original were wood, but no nylon insert. The pin in the JP seems like it is a little undersize.

For a more informed answer ask poolcrazy, I imagine that he knows.

I'll send some pics over the weekend when I get a chance to take them.

I'm going to send some pics of the cue as well. I am confident it is an H-14, but the veneers in the points are much thinner than I have seen on any other. I am wondering what if anything this might mean about the cue. The cue is very original, the finish is a little thin, and the wrap could use a cleaning for those who prefer it. I think the patina is beautiful. It's a fabulous cue.

Also, does anybody have a shaft joint protector that might match this? I only got the butt protector with it. 18 thread of course as it's a Huebler.

I heard by email that this may indeed be an original Huebler item.

Anybody else have thoughts?

I'll post some shots of the cue tomorrow.


It would be nice to try to match the joint protector, and I would also like to get a second shaft for the cue, preferably a proper Huebler shaft of course. Maybe I can find one and have the ring work done to match.

I have known about you for some time, but after having been more properly acquainted I think I can officially say that I think I want to be you when I grow up. I could live in Huebler Heaven....with all the Hueblers....and be all cool and stuff. :grin:
