It appears that IPT is NOW requiring a Premier Membership to view the old matches ... Sorry for the bad info ...
 
The Sigel/Schmidt Match is available right now for FREE viewing and I highly recommend it for ALL Players, even if you never play Straight Pool ... It is a learning experience and showcases what the game of Pool is all about ...

I just watched it for the 2nd time and I'm still amazed at the skill, focus, and determination Mike Sigel brought to this Match ...

Congratulations again Mike, for a job well done ...

I was his designated "yes" man more than once. He looks at you and relates what a predicament he's in. Your job is to nod in agreement. After he makes the shot, you should be the one leading the applause. If not, you will be replaced. :)

I do give him credit for remaining silent while JS was at the table.

Mike never stops when he is playing(at the table otherwise he is a gentalman to play) I like Mike, Awalys have. I saw him in Reno in 85 talking to everyone he ran a 6 pack, At the Bicycle Club in 93 or 94 he was *****ing and moaning about a tooth infection and how he couldnt make a ball, he ran a 5 pack and didnt realize it, the only reason he stopped at 5 was his match was over, I reminded him of that last time we spoke, he laughed his ass off-he remembered it well. And when you consider how many 5 packs he has ran, I thought that was stronf he remembered it, how the hell I remembered is almost as amazing. :confused: :confused:
 
Between Steve Mizerak, Nick Varner, and Mike Sigel....well I have a hard time choosing a favorite, BUT, I'd have to say over all Sigel has the slight edge as my favorite in the realm of 9 ball - but not much. His runouts just always looked so text book. Break, drill a hard shot and get perfect shape, then run out easy shots always getting the perfect angle.
 
Mike is my age, and I think I've moved my game to be better than ever. My eyes and other body parts suck, but my skill level has, so far, overcome the physical disadvantages of aging. I'm sure Mike has similar issues.

I'm learning straight pool this summer...kinda late, I know, but it sure is fun diving into such a complicated, thoughtful game. It makes me feel young. And I think my age helps to have the patience for straight pool and that is probably why I rarely played it before. And I know that my 8-ball experience helps greatly.

Mike is 55 but age provides some specific advantages over youth....especially in straight pool, imho. One pocket, too.
