Hurricane Frances

Rude Dog

<---Dumb and Dumber
Is this thing gonna hit where the U.S. Open is? I've never been out there and I was wondering if hurricanes ever hit there?

Dog,
They can reach Virginia, as a matter of fact I think one did last year during the open. They lost power for a little while, but I think there biggest problem was lost revenue from people not showing up to watch.
I don't know the projected track for Francis, but if it is over land and it reaches VA it will most likely be greatly diminished by the time it reaches VA. If it tracks over the ocean (where they gain there power) it can retain it strength to a larger degree. If it reaches VA it will in all liklihood have less power than it does in FL. In FL and the Gulf Coast they come straight in off the WARM water and are generally much more powerful. By the time the reach us in the Northeast the are generally reduced to a tropical storm or a category 1 or 2. I suspect VA being that much closer to the So Atlantic and Gulf would see something in between the strengths we see and those they tend to see on the Gulf Coast.
It is not easy to predict a hurricanes track and it I don't the weather service is making any serious speculation at this time as to weather or not it will reach VA intact. I just looked at weather.com and there current prediction sends it directly up FL from one end to the other. All that time over land should greatly weaken it if it should reach VA.
They're actually fun to witness when they are sufficiently diminished. I would never trade my New England winters for August and September in Florida.

It's heading north from Florida, but anything can happen in its path. It could change its course. The Carolinas are targeted to get hit at this time.

Hurricane Isabel didn't stop the Open last year, and it won't happen this year either.

Play well and good luck, Rude Dog. Looking forward to seeing you at the Open.

rude dog, don't sweat it, chances are against your getting hit by a falling tree or anything like that.

I'm sweating it here in Savannah. Guess I'll take my sticks with me......To late to rent a UHAUL for my table. LOL.

Thanks everyone, my wife feels better, I think. She just came back with a big smile on her face and a new insurance policy in her hands. ;)

Yeah it may just bring heavy winds and rains.Nothing Va hasnt seen before.Last year i was visiting my mom in hampton during my annual trek to the Open and a tree blew on the misses car.So we got a new car and nobody was hurt.I dont think that it would happen 2 years in a row.But thats the gambler in me.lol Rude Dog what is your real name so i can check the charts and sweat one of your matches?

John Morton, thanks.

Frances will hit the East coast of Florida in 24 hours and may head North and by the time it reaches Virginia it may just be a storm.

Best of luck, RudeDog, Keith and JimmyM. Hope all of you guys do well.
Thanks Hemi, I'll do my best. Anything less than 1st place against these lops would be a disappointment, LOL. Ouch, that's probably gonna hurt :D

I think all those high and mighty pros better watch out for Hurricane John Morton, they may just get uprooted and blown over.
Go get 'em Rude Dog.

Theres a great picture somewhere on this site of Earl walking around in the parking lot during the heavy winds. Hopefully this one won't make it to Virginia.
