HUSTLIN Apparel

I can see where Hustlin has made leaps and bounds to improve the bad stigma of pool. Too bad there isn't a pool establishment on every corner, but at least you could possibly find one in every city.
The stigma was gone long before they came around ,,

They are reinforcing the bad stigma now
Maybe that's what's needed , the MGM grand just opened up just down the road , they sold out the hotel , the parking lots were full and there were lines of 200+ people waiting to get on a table

Hopefully Hustlin is just a fad.

Tony has been pretty successful for ten years now. WSOP players have been seen on TV wearing his stuff.

Did you just find out about Hustlin USA apparel???

I think wearing a HUSTLIN shirt makes you a walking oxymoron.

I've gambled since the first day I walked into a pool hall....
...and I don't need people that don't gamble to tell me not to gamble...
...WTH, I don't tell non-gamblers they have to start gambling.

I have friends that don't gamble...we get along just fine.

I think that would be hustin'! Tony hustled when he pushed his design forward, hustled to get

his money right, and keeps on hustlin selling his product. I for one will keep on hustlin to purchase

his quality designs! I am a Culinary hustler, I can take ingredients for $5 and charge you $25...

and I keep on doing it...that makes me what? A con man? Nope. Is it a black eye to other

restaurants? nope. So why trash talk someones business, who has not really done anything to

warrant this, TAR did more to push the gambling than anything else, and I applaud them

for it. Give it up. Please

If you say so it must be true

I just don't agree with the name and the damage it causes.

What damage has the Hustlin clothing brand specifically done?

You do know that they sponsor players and also provide free branded apparel to others? So they actually do good for pool.

Start a line called Leaguein' or Practicin' or well you get it, doesn't have the same ring to it. Its really a style that certain players like, I am not a fan of it but it does have a good following.

Lol, You obviously can't. You werent quoted in that post. He was replying to someone else...

thanks I was beginning to think I'm going crazy lol

To the Op you are making way to much out of nothing , today's generation is all about expression in the term of the shirt in urban lingo it's about working for the cash not trying to hustle someone out of it big difference ,
If you ever get out to a tournament stop by the booth , he's straight up and believe me he's not giving no shirt to players with questionable character , and supporting younger players big time

What is the story behind Hustlin apparel?

Did the person or company behind Hustlin think such a name closely related to the word, "hustling", would improve a positive view or outlook of pool or was the company created for a quick buck at the expense of the sport, game, hobby? Something tells me gambling is the heart of pool, but what about for those who don't gamble and play for other more inspiring reasons like social interaction, competition, or the exhilarating feeling one feels when playing near perfect.

If pool doesn't change the way it currently is portrayed, then it will continue on this same downward spiraling path.

Hustling is the deceptive act of disguising one's skill in a sport or game with the intent of luring someone of probably lesser skill into gambling (or gambling for higher than current stakes) with the hustler, as a form of both a confidence trick and match fixing. It is most commonly associated with, and originated in, pool (and to an extent other billiards-family games), but also can be performed with regard to other sports and gambling activities. Hustlers may also engage in "sharking"—distracting, disheartening, enraging, or even threatening their opponents—to throw them off. Hustlers are thus often called "pool sharks" (compare "card shark"). Professional and semi-pro hustlers sometimes work with a "stakehorse"—a person who provides the money for the hustler to bet with (and who may assist in the hustling)—in exchange for a substantial portion of all winnings. Another form of hustling (often engaged in by the same hustlers who use the skill-disguising technique) is challenging "marks" (swindle targets) to bet on trick shots that seem nearly impossible but at which the hustler is exceptionally skilled.

I believe the story the Hustlin people will give you is that they are using the word to mean the lifestyle of Hustlin...not fooling or robbing people, but *moving*. Working hard, hustling to make each new thing a success, to go out and grab it, etc. You know..."how's the new busboy doing?" "He's great, he really hustles"

That kind of idea, I'm pretty sure.

I know that the clothing maker "Play the Game" specifically tried to take things in the opposite direction from the seedy pool world definition of Hustlin. For whatever that is worth.
