As much as I love Hendry and Davis, I would never bet on them against Shane Van Boening, John Schmidt, Dennis Orcullo, Alex Pagualyan in any long 9 or 10 ball race.
But....being two of the greatest cueists ever, I'm sure they would be amongst the top players if pool suddenly had million dollar prize money and they decided to take the game seriously.
Agreed. However, pool doesn't have long races at tournaments and probably never ever will so they'd always have a reasonable chance for good results. Alternate break helps too.
Snooker world final is race to 18 over two days. Compare that to World 9ball or 10ball final which is over in about 2 or 3 hours.
I know and it's just ridiculous. The length of the world final in snooker is almost as long as long as a TAR match up.
I guess my point is that I see these videos posted whenever they are available, and people are a little too impressed. Hendry doesn't run out any better than Nick Varner or any other top pool player. And I doubt he is a better shotmaker than John Schmidt or Shane Van Boening on a pool table.
I'm speaking as a snooker player who also plays pool. I still think both games are equally tough against top level competition.
