Mind/Body Pool is a GREAT hypnosis CD. It was designed by a professional psychotherapist who happens to also play pool.

While it has been a few years since I have used self-hypnosis, I use it to relax and also to gain a competitive edge against my opponents while playing pool.

MANY years ago I purchased some self-hypnosis cassette tapes by a Ryan Elliott as I recall but those have long since disappeared from my library.

Just before hurricane Katrina I had some self-hypnosis CD's which were custom designed by a "sports psychologist" from Hawaii. Hurricane Katrina got those as well as many other things.

I have been listening to Ed's Self Hypnosis CD for the past few weeks. I was telling my son about the CD because he has a very high pressure job and I was getting great relaxation from Ed's CD. The CD is divided into two parts, one is the relaxation part and the latter portion is the pool imagery portion.

Sometimes when I listen to the CD, I actually drift off into a deep sleep, almost unaware of the CD and Ed's professional voice. ( I'm not sure that I am supposed to fall asleep that deeply.) :o

Sometimes I stay awake the whole time but in a deep relaxed state.

EVERY SINGLE time that I listen to the CD, when I awake, it is almost like I took a 3 hour nap. It is that refreshing.

For those of you who have never tried hypnosis and would like a way to take some of the stress out of your day and your life, I strongly suggest you give it a try. It is the second best way to relax.

Ed's Self-Hypnosis CD is only $17 and it includes shipping. You can order it by PMing AZ Billiards member "edd".

Hello JoeyA,

Does Ed's Hypnosis CD help improve your competative edge or is it more of a relaxation thing for you? I'm looking for the best Hypnosis program to help me with my inner game. Ryan Elliott's program seems to focus on many different aspects of one's game but comes at a hefty price for both CDs. Can you give a comparison between the two programs? Do you also recommend both of Elliott's CDs?

Thanks

It has been many, many years since I last saw Ryan's hypnosis program. It has been so long ago that as I recall, it was in a large binder and it was on cassette tapes, maybe as many as 12. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about the tapes except that they had different titles.

A sports psychologist who helped train Olympic athletes and other professional athletes, once told me that the "GATE" to "THE ZONE" was relaxation. He also invested much of his "time" on the CD's that I had helping you increase your visualization skills.

Ed's CD's contain a relaxation and a pool visualization program. When I am exceptionally tired, I sometimes drift off to sleep during the pool visualization program. :o

At a cost of $17 for Ed's program, I feel that most people could justify giving it a shot without fear of the purchase busting their bank.

Joey,
Thank you for the kind and generous review, and, mostly, I'm pleased to hear that the CD has been helpful. Hypnosis is not actually sleep, although it can be as relaxing an experience as sleep. Nonetheless, the unconscious mind is listening and processing the information, even if you should fall asleep, or are engaged in a reverie or daydream.

Visualization skills are especially key to all the precision, non-reactive sports, of which category pool belongs. And, those skills are greatly enhanced by relaxation. Essentially, when the body is relaxed, the mind is also relaxed - greatly faciliating one's ability to visualize. This all helps to build muscle memory, on a micro level, similar to the actual physical movements involved in playing pool.

Please feel free to IM me with any questions. As Joey noted, the cost of the CD is $17 which includes shipping & handling. Currently, the mode of payment is limited to U.S. Postal money orders. I realize this is an inconvenience - it is for me, as well. In time, my intention is to have a PayPal account and the ability to download the recording from my website.

My goal is to obtain professional endorsements and expand marketing. So get it while its relatively inexpensive!

Edd,
I PMed you my email address so when you get the chance please email me. I have an idea to share with you.

The biggest benefit so far has been the relaxation part of the self-hypnosis. I'm hoping to see some improvements for myself with the visualization techniques.

Thanks,

Morning bump! IM with any questions

I listened to the CD yesterday before going to the handicapped 9 ball tournament at Buffalo's and I "got lucky". Don't know if it is because I was relaxed, or if the visualization techniques are working or if I am just so dog-gone good. :D

Glad to hear you had a good outing! Whatever benefits that may be derived from listening to the CD, are customarily subtle. For instance, in assisting folks with becoming non-smokers, they'll often voice surprise that they no longer experience any desire for a cigarette, but don't necessarily associate the phenomenon with the hypnotic trancework.

BTW, I did receive your IM, my friend, and will get an email off to you within a couple of days.

I haven't noticed any lessening of desire to quit smoking since I started listening to your CD self-hypnosis disk.

Oh that's right, I haven't smoked for almost 20 years and besides that, this CD is for pool players, not people trying to quit smoking. :D

I assume you have self-hypnosis CD's for people trying to quit smoking or is that just done in your practice??

Typically, CDs for smoking cessation are done in office, following an intake session, so they can be customized. That, btw, is also the preferable method for sports enhancement - to customize the recording.

You should be ashamed of yourself, impersonating a handicapped person. jk......just to win a tournament. GEEZ!;)

This same thing happens to me when I pour a cup of coffee, go into the living room and sit down on the couch and my wife starts talking to me.

I am a lock with the following bet: I bet that your wife doesn't read this forum.
