Order another Lear jet Williebetmore.
Williebetmore said:I propose we play a straight pool match at the 2007 DCC - winner has official bragging rights, loser (ie. breakup) has to just agree with all of the winner's posts for the next month. Oh, and did I mention I'm putting up a THOUSAND jellybeans just to make things interesting. If breakup can sell a few more marmot-pelts, or perhaps take out a third mortgage on his palatial hunting lodge (plywood walls, Viskween windows, tarpaper roof), perhaps then he will have enough funds to buy a backbone transplant, put up the big bag of sand, and PLAY some real pool.

No none of them can be there to tell you which end of the cue to hold, which ball to “shoot” next or when to go we we.

If someone carries a rack with him at all times,
doesn't that mean he's a loser?
Remember, loser racks.![]()
Williebetmore said:Addict-man,
I'm not nitpicking either; but it is traditional to put the 1 ball and the 5 ball on the corners of a straight pool rack prior to the opening break. I have heard (from a former pro) the theory about stripes on the corners; but my rule book says to put the 1 and the 5 on the corners.
pooladdict said:Thanks for correcting me, Billgamblesalot. Here is the exact rule from WPA:
6.4 THE RACK
Standard triangle rack with the apex ball on the foot spot, 1-ball on the racker's right corner, 5-ball on left corner. Other balls are placed at random and must touch their neighbors.
Williebetmore said:Just to muddy the water further: my rule book states the 1-ball on the LEFT corner and the 5-ball on the RIGHT corner, then shows a picture with JUST THE OPPOSITE (5 on the left, 1 on the right). I figure IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER (obscure Bill Murray reference); but in deference to the tradition of the game I would love to hear from one of the old-timers to clarify this situation.

Man, I must say that's a really nice product! But why stop there -- why not also design a break-cue contraption of the same sort?

I would have to name that gizmo after someone else. Unless it is alternating break format I don’t think Willie will ever have use for a break cue.
