I ain't getting any younger (61) so what the heck!

You will get at least 2 bites at the apple against some tough competition. Good luck :)

What other sport can you pay a grand and play against the very best players in their respective sport? None. I think what you are doing is great and i would tell you not to be nervous, but-you are probably gonna be regardless. Just try to have fun and use that players badge to get into every session you aren't playing in and have a great time. And don't forget to runout.

All of us guys may be older, but we are also wiser, nothing to prove Wedge, just out for a great time, lock and load and rock and roll, knock em dead Wedge.

Well, I just paid my $1,000 entry fee for the 2015 US Open 9 Ball Championship. I had planned to go to Virginia Beach to watch so I figured I might as well play since it is the 40th anniversary of the tournament and I ain't getting any younger.
Wish me luck!!!

Thanks

Wedge

Awesome and I hope I get to see you play. My ultimate goal in pool is to get to the point to where I believe I have a reasonable (~20% or greater) chance of just cashing in this tournament, and then enter it. The dream is to actually cash in the US Open. I've been attending the last few years to get the lay of the land and judge the speed of the weaker players in the field to see where I might fit in. Narrowing the field from 256 to 128 is going to make that goal harder to achieve, but if I never get there skill wise I may at some point just pony up the dough and enter anyway. I'm 52 now and probably a B- to B player, a 7 in APA 8-ball, still improving though and believe I can achieve significant further improvement in the next couple of years.

So I will say best of luck to you, stay calm, play well, and I do hope you can at least win one match. Speaking from my own point of view, if I could at least do that, then it wouldn't be a total failure.

Thank you everyone

I would just like to thank everyone for the positive support before the thread gets off track. Your support and well wishes mean a lot to me.

I just saw on the Accu-Stats website that the field is full and they are not accepting any more entries....wow just made it yesterday!

This is at the top of my bucket list, I hope to do this sometime soon...FTR, Wedge doesn't need any rolls, he's not dead money. There are a few players on the list that I KNOW he can beat, and he'll give anyone he draws a headache for sure.

Shoot well, Frank!

Oooooh, I like hearing that kind of talk!

Entry fee? Handled.... the experience? Priceless.

Go on and take it off, Wedge!

I had already purchased one. Karen Corr and I spent about three hours today on our breaks using it with the US Open racking scheme and break box. We figured some things out towards the very end of our session so at least we have a baseline to start with at the Open. Definitely different than the Magic Rack.

Glad to hear that Wedge... so many players head off to competition, without the slightest thought of giving the Break Shot some attention.

Good Luck Wedge...
