I got a massive lowball offer on my cue, accepted, and then canceled before I could shoot an invoice off because a much more generous offer came in.

This happened within an hour, no money exchanged hands.

I am a monster.

Please burn me at the stake.

"Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!!" :-)

All kidding aside, as long as you explained to the buyer in a professional way that you changed your mind, I don't see a problem with it. You agreed to it, got a better offer, then looked out for yourself. No harm done, everybody lives.

If you had taken the money, then changed your mind and refunded the buyer, that'd be a different story IMO.

No shame in changing your mind, it happens all the time in all industries.

PS: If it gives you trouble sleeping at night, send the guy a bottle of wine or a case of beer as a polite apology :-)

Sounds like you need some basic sales training by Dale Carnegie or Tom Hopkins.
I would of sold each buyer a cue, maybe 2.
No shit

No offense.. But I know what would have happened had I, or any other dealer done this.

27 pages of screw you, you emm effing thief you took my offer and then shopped it around after we had an agreement blah blah..... I hope a falcon snatches your cat from your yard, your tire comes off while driving going over 65, you install Chinese made sheetrock in your house... on and on and on....

Did you at least offer the cue to the original "lowballer" at the new generous offer price... He was the first and you did accept.. If he then declined then all is good imo.. That's how I would like to be treated...

I'm surprised this one hasn't escalated, or at least another thread posted by the victim.
I am available to the OP for consultation if this escalates into a full blown flame war.

It wasn't my set, it was my Joss.

You can have my set if you want, payments are fine.

3k for them, absolutely beautiful

You're right. I posted this because he threatened to ruin me on AZ. I am fixing a major problem on my house and don't care, cash is king. Ruin away.

Seems like a pretty cheesy thing to do. Why accept a "massive lowball offer".

This has happened to me more than once with AZ sellers and I wasn't even making an offer, but was the buyer agreeing to the seller's asking price.

A deal is a deal.

Once you made a commitment to the (first) buyer the cue should have been off the market.

So how much more money did it take for you to sell out your integrity?

Buyers change their minds all the time before paying the money in all walks of life. Buying cars, houses, cues, etc. etc....all sorts of stuff. And it's generally viewed as "understandable". Not well liked, but understandable. There are even some laws on the books allowing a buyer to back out of a deal that's already been made a few days afterward.

My point being, why shouldn't the seller be afforded the same "understanding"?

That is not an answer, it is rationalizing. It is what a child does when caught doing something wrong,
"Well he did it to".
I would like to think in a deal, I am dealing with someone with a mentality and reasoning beyond that of a child.

Buyers should also be outed for the same infraction.

BTW if we went by the books they would be teaching cuemaking in many prisons.

Afternoon All, In regards to the thread, I am the one who agreed to purchase (not massively low ball) the Joss cue from the fellow AZ'r. This morning I saw the cue and made an offer less the case which was included in the original price, the gentleman declined the offer and countered with one $50.00 higher with the terms that I purchase only using eBay, must do it immediately and pay shipping and the eBay fee's which I immediately accepted. Since I do not do this often I had to set up an eBay account and verify all my banking details. Once the account was set up I contacted the seller and provided my phone number, he immediately called and we discussed my address, his house problems and invoicing. Six hours after I excepted Ideologist's counter offer I suddenly got a text stating that he sold the cue to some one else. As for the thread I would have not said anything and wrote it up as a lesson learned but he posted a thread saying I "Low Balled" and threatened to "Ruin Him". Pool has always been regarded to as a Gentlemen's sport and my thoughts are that everything associated with it (like this) can and should be also. I feel that if a person wants to auction something off (as I feel was done here) then go to a county fair or list it on eBay, If you want to sell it and come to terms with someone then it is a done deal. I am not here to disrespect or steal anything by no means and Ideologist I wish you the best with your house and future cue transactions....I'm Out

you install Chinese made sheetrock in your house.

Never heard of that one before. But Ouch. I have pretty thick skin but that may have brought tears to my eyes.

Shite sometimes happens on AZ Sales. Pat is a good guy also.

Sounds like Elvee took it like a decent human and I know that members will respect that much more than if he went off on Pat like a Wild Man.

Thanks Blue Hog,

This is the exact reason why attorneys with 30 page contracts and having to sign on fifteen lines before we can go buy a pack of gum (not quite that bad yet), When i was brought up a mans word meant more than any of these items and a hand shake better than any ink you could put on a contract line. My how times have changed.

BR,
Elveeze
