I am thinking of going to the US open in Texas

I can not find much information about the us open other than hotel and tickets to the event on the WNT webpage. It has been over 30 years since I went to the US open in Virginia a number of times. Wondering about how the experience is now. Any feedback would be appreciated. What time do the matches start and end? When you buy a ticket, is it first come first serve on the day of the event as far as where you sit or are the seats assigned? Are players and non players able to mix together? I really enjoy the tournaments at Skinny bob's because the players and non players are mixed together in the pool room and you could be sitting next to a world champion and most of them are more than happy to have a conversation.

The matches start at about 10AM and end about 8PM. Matchroom events generally do not have very late matches, unlike a lot of US tournaments. If you sign up for the live scoring (free, but requires email), you can look at the match scores and times from the 2025 Open. There were two matches that started at 8:45PM, which was the latest. There were only nine matches in that Open that started after 6PM (according to the published schedule, which is pretty accurate.)

When they are in the early rounds, there are 30 or so tables out on a big floor. There are aisles set up with chairs. There is an on-line schedule, so if there is a match you want to see, get there early. No assigned seating. When they are down to a few tables, I think it is still random seating.

There is a lot of player/spectator mingling at the big events. (It's much less at the Mosconi Cup.)

This is a new venue, so some things may be different.

I went to the ticket website thinking I may be able to buy premium tickets but they only offered general admission tickets so I bought those.

I live in San Antonio and have been planning to go since I first heard about it coming to Texas. I signed up for an email alert before the tickets went on sale and never received one. Now that they’re out, Sunday is completely sold out. I might still get tickets for Saturday I guess, it’s only about a 5 hour drive from here. Wish I could afford to go and stay for the whole thing.

I went last year. The first couple days aren't anything special. Because of seeding it's just a litany of 9-1/9-2 matches. If I go again I'll start on day 3.

Or you are gone :ROFLMAO:
Well Spartan , I've dodged death more times than I care to admit to and at my age I've out lived many classmates and friends .
There's only one person who readily comes to mind who will be happy that I went to the other camp is my exwife and I swore I'd never do anything to make her that happy .
Besides the way I figure it the ole boy upstairs looks out for fools and idiots or I'd of been dead back in 1978 !

The advantage of being there for the first rounds is that you can pretty easily watch the top players you want to see. Maybe it will be an easy match for them, but you still get to see them up close with the many-table layout. But, yeah, the more important and dramatic matches start at 64.
