Decided to make a vid of me shooting a rack of 8 ball.
I break and run......untill I make a stupid shot on my last ball and leave myself a disaster shot on the 8.... then I choke lol. I cant even beat myself ....in pool you sick freaks, ya I know what you were thinking :D

Alot of people are going to tell you that you shoot too fast. Which is probably why you are getting out of shape on these shots. Try playing some 9ball it will help you much more with your positional shots. Take your time...

Every one tell me I shoot too fast lol. I just played too much bottom on my second last shot which drew the CB wayyyy back. I do play 9ball as well but dont really like 9 on a bar box. Thanks for the input though and if any one has any more tips please send em my way :)

As most have already stated, you shoot too fast, but worse yet...you don't shoot with control. You bumped way too many balls and really got lucky to get that far. The draw shot is fun and looks cool when showing off, but don't over use it. Even the worst leave shot on the eight, you should never have drawn the ball that far. Good Luck.

I thought the pattern I was going for was good?? Im shoot fast because when I take more time I tend to over think and in the end usually miss any ways lol.

I shoot faster then normal on a barbox, i think your a good shooter just got a little careless on the last shot to get shape on the eight. But the eight is the game winning shot so no matter how fast you shoot its the shot you should take a little extra time on.

All I can say is, "Don't feel like the Lone Ranger".
If I had a dollar for every straight in 8 that I tanked, well, I could have probably bought a nice pool table for myself anyway.

I think that if you develop a consistent pre-shot routine it would help slow you down a little. You need more discipline at the table, I get the feeling that you deal with the leave you get more than thinking it through at making the leave you need happen. Best of luck to you.

BTW putting a video that shows your weakness takes guts, green rep to ya!

Slow down. Enjoy the game. You shot way to fast and you did not really aim that last shot. Using draw is cool looking, but need to practice position play.
See billiard digest website for some drills.

I can shoot fast or I can shoot slow, but one thing is for sure, you can't shoot that eightball shot at the same speed you shoot a short straight in shot. You will never have a high potting percentage if you do.

A good pattern? Are you telling me you meant to draw between 2 balls to play across the angle to shoot the 2nd ball in to the side? Are you telling me it is a good pattern to hit a hard draw shot and get a lucky bump to shoot the ball back up in the far left corner when a small controlled bump and shooting in the far right corner would have been sufficient?

Sorry my friend, plaid is a pattern, that resembled scribbles to me.

Pool is all in the details. Small stroke mistakes and bad patterns will rear their ugly heads over time. I also agree with the poster who suggested a pre-shot routine. I think that could do wonders for your game in the long run.

The title of this thread is not correct, because it should be titled "I choked on the leave before the eight."

This is true

Not making excuses but my main player is a pechauer with a triangle tip,
I was using a players hxt cue with a kamui tip which Im not used too. I know its not the arrow and like I said Im not making excuses but it is a HUGE difference.

Thanks for all the tips and I will making changes for sure. Maybe my next vid wont be as bad and I'll play better  ..... I hope

Well, first thing to do next time, is to whip whoever's ass that thought it would be funny to put the mic in the table:D

Kidding aside, you must be using a external mic or something? The LOUD NOISE of the balls dropping, sounds as if there is a mic inside the table.

Nope just the cam/mic on my laptop. Thats why I added the music over it to try and drown out the noise. I think its loud because I have the door on the side off and took out the bar that hold the balls so they can roll right to the place under the rack at the end of the table.

On each shot, try chalking your cue after you have decided what to play not while you are decidinghow to play it. You might find that you benefit from the slight pause this will introduce before you get down to the shot (it is this part of the routine that looks a little rushed IMHO).

Re patterns, ideally you should plan each shot before you start on the run. But if you don't do this, at least try work out what the last ball before the 8 will be, leaving an easy last positional shot (or at least not one that you might get twitch on). That probably means avoiding draw shots going across the line of the next shot, since these can easily go wrong if your focus wavers.

Your follow through is a bit inconsistent. I'm sure Randy et al would ask you to have a consistent Finish position to your stroke. Otherwise not much wrong that I saw.
