I find myself...

eyesight

Have you gone to have your eye sight tested? You may need a little vision
correction. Everything might seem fine, but you never know til you get it checked out. Other that that the only advice i can offer is, do not let it get you down, stay after it and enjoy yourself. Remember you have to loose a ton
of games til you start winning. Do not beat yourself, in other words, play safe, do not take risky shots that will give the other player an out. Play the percentages and duck if the shot is not 100% for you. Know where the cueball is going at all times to avoid a scratch. If you have to, go back to the basics and start from there. If you need to win some games to boost your confidence, stop in some of the local bar's with a few quarters and whip the local's.:D Do not give up.:)

I had my eyes checked right after I got out from the hospital. my prescription only changed a LITTLE. they said I have NO injuries to my eyes or anything behind them, so I thanked GOD for that. thanks for the advice Hook, and everyone else. who knows...maybe someday we'll meet (me and some of you) and play, and we can help each other on our games. maybe I know something you may not? I'm getting better by the day, and feeling more alert and normal. I give myself another year and I should be just peachy!!

Duke,

Its not a matter of a one time check but a mantianance program as well. That day we took care of some of the stroke challenges that you had, its not to say that they have not come back or something new has developed.

I still video tape myself about once or twice a month and I still work with other instructors as well. heck Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world but even he works with his coach at least once a week to maintain his swing and keep his game sharp. Pool is really no different that golf, and you really need to stay on top of things to keep in stroke.

you'll never believe this, but my "accident" was february 16th 2005 at 5:45am on my way to work. the doctors said "if I was fat or unhealthy I WOULD have died". I'm just glad to be alive, and try to be as thankful and friendly as possible. I don't need any more enemies. life is too short for that s**t!! I don't think I'll be "the same"...I WANT to play better than before!! good luck on that though...huh?! anyway...thanks for everyone's kind words about my mis-hap. I appreciate all your comments and advice!
it takes a minimum of one year to even attempt to begin to heal neck and brain injury........just take it easy .and you have some great advice from all the above ........good luck......

my doctors were all amazed at how fast I "healed" to leave the hospital, so I just figured (probably shouldn't have) my recovery was already underway. I do still keep in touch with my "mental" doctor for obvious reasons, not to mention I enjoyed going to see her as she was real pretty. I had a couple of "hottie" doctors which is why I enjoyed going! unfortunately for me, they were married or seeing someone. oh...I was only in hamot for 1 mo. and healtsouth (their rehab) for 1 mo. a total of 2 mo. and I was in a coma for 2 weeks of it! I'm not bragging at all, but I'd say that's real good. they did tell me that my brain would take 1 yr. to heal and they expect 95% recovery. I've got 11 mo. down so far, but not pushing it too much. my neck bothers me sometimes but not too bad. just sore mostly, and that's only when I turn my head. for future reference...whatever you guys do: don't do anything to break a shoulder. I broke mine clear across and rehab SUCKED!! it was the MOST pain I've ever felt and remembered. I do have more motion of my shoulder than originally expected. they never thought I'd be able to get my arm over my head, and I can straight up. I can't play darts though, or throw a ball (darn)!! oh well...tis' life!!

well...like I private messaged joey: I suffered a brain injury (brain shearing), a broken (way broken) right shoulder, I fractured a c2 in my neck, fractured my nose, memory loss, uh...that's pretty much it. the doctors expect 95% recovery though, and my shoulder doesn't bother me. this must be what I get for neglecting to wear a seat belt! now...any ideas??
ps. even though all this has happened...you'd never know to look at me.

Duke, you've shown character and courage in sharing this. It's nice to know that you are on the road to a nearly complete recovery.

It's truly inspirational to learn that you won't let these physical setbacks rob you of any of your enthusiasm for pool. I hope you reach the level you knew in the past, but whatever comes, enjoy the game of pool and enjoy life.

It's a strange reality that having something taken away from you can help you realize how much you love it. It seems to have been that way with you and pool.

right!

man....you hit the nail right on the head with that one! this may sound a little presumptious, but I don't want to be as good as I think I was before...I WILL be better if it costs me a fortune. I've heard from numerous people that I don't play as well as before, and I believe it. even though...I have HIGH aspirations for becoming the pool player I should be and always wanted to be. I want to be the one to walk in a pool room anywhere, and have people whispering how good I am. that's my dream, and a reachable one I think. I know you may be thinking "this guy is nuts! he thinks he's going to be somebody after this "accident", and wants us to believe it?" it sounds a little far-fetched, but I now have motivation on my side. I want this so bad I can taste it. motivation is the key guys...MOTIVATION!! I'll do whatever drills, or take any advice available to me to accomplish this. you can mark my words on this guys!! I won't settle for being a GOOD player in erie PA anymore, I want to be a good player anywhere.

good start?

well...I hope this is a start of what's to come. I just came from one of our two pool halls in erie,PA, and while I ws there I broke and ran 2 racks in a row. this may not sound good to some of you...but it's the first time since I returned home. I'm seeing the patterns better, playing more consistently, and even winning a LITTLE money here and there now. we'll see what happens from here, but imo it can only get better.

Vitamin B (all B's) and some vitamin E help with memory retention. The rest is as others have posted.;)

Terry< multiple concussion, fracture(?)<hole in temple, Long term memory loss(amnesia) which has gotten better but with gaps, short term memory retention problems etc,etc.......:(
