I went out the past 2 nights to play pool and was struggling, I was playing at Hollywood Billiards which has tough equipment but man it was bad, i just woke up at345 AM and my calf muscles are sore from playing, I was at the Derby...didnt play much, then back east played a little, at JOB's never hit a ball, over the past month I havent played very much, I can feel the back of my legs are tight like in the bodybuilding days, I'm going to play everyday this week, I have too, I w3as playing ok not great before the Derby not i'm a joke, I think in a week I'll be ok in 2 weeks I'll be good. The tables are slow there right now, I love that room.

It sounds mundane but, try walking (stretch before hand) and just walk a mile in the beginning. It might even help you back.
I walk so that I can play pool longer, it helps with the stamina too.

a mile?

Good advice about walking but I ain't too sure about starting at a mile. I haven't walked a mile at once since '93! :D :D :D

Exercise Daily

When my mother died, I got the treadmill and the exercise bike. It sat down in my basement for years before I got on it. I have gone from 268 down to 233 since 1.5 years ago. I am shooting for 200 hoping that my type 2 diabetes will go away and I can enjoy life a little longer. Haven't had a cigarette in a couple of years. I am working on it folks.
Purdman ;)
The really neat thing about the equipment is that I don't have to go anywhere to work out or walk in bad weather.

i'm feelin' ya bro.i went from 317 down to 285.all diet related.

have you changed your diet?

There are plenty of reasons for a 'slump' in any sport.

1. age, the older you get the more excuse you make up for missing or playing bad. After years of this you start to believe your own excuses.

2. enviornment -tables are tight, missed shots get into your head.

3. You current life conditions.. health, spouse, significant other, friends, business woes you get the picture?

4 then there is the 'perception' issue... you think you can play better than you really can, and when you are playing the BEST you can...you think you suck..

No slump...just the cold hard fact that if you don't play often, you can't have a dependable stroke.

Or, you've been dreaming and this is a 'nightmare'
btw, Jay is looking for you .....

The only thing that works for me is exercise, I CAN'T follow a diet. I drink WAY too much beer for that. So, I run 3-4 miles daily, and this allows me to eat whatever I want, and drink about a gallon of delicious Budweiser each and every day. I am 41, and have never felt better, unless I'm hungover.:D

I played at HB last night also, and can vouch for the fact that the tables played really bad........

HEY, we must have the same trainer!...cept I drink Yuengling Lager...Pennsylvanias finest! When I was in high school I was 205 at my heaviest<<<I'm 5'6" :D, now I'm about 165 and working on getting back to 150. I walk just about everyday out here in the country, and I love it. Throw on the walkman and get the dog, and were gone. I don't get tired much playing pool til after maybe 5 hours. Take a vitamin "K" suppliment for leg cramping!.....or eat a banana.

Take your time on every shot. Take a deep breath, Relax, and let your body do what it knows how to do.It knows how to play.
