and now I am totally obsessed with one pocket.

Any recommendations on books I should read for strategy?

I have been watching a ton of You Tube videos, but would like to add some reading to my education.

Thanks,
Tim

This does not answer your question but may serve the purpose. I suggest playing partners One Pocket and having a better player as your partner. The coaching by an experienced player in a game situation is a great way to improve.

Good for you!
Playing One Pocket is better than having sex. As a matter-of-fact you'll probably get screwed so many times playing it, you won't be able to tell the difference.
There is a good deal of material out there. Try Googling, and try a search here on AZ.
A good game to play, while watching YouTube, is to try and anticipate what type of shot the guy at the table is going to make before he shoots. The better you become at the game, the better you'll get at calling the shot.
Good luck.

I got bit early on. Its an amazing game that is about risk and reward. Your speed control and creativity will be tested.

Tim, I have some DVD's for you. Don't get to good as you gave me all I could handle in our last 6hr match.

Play as much as possible, learn the break many mistakes are made from the break.

Toledo Joes Gaming Buster One Pocket is a great 2 dvd set. Very Practical advice.

Jack Koehler's "Upscale One Pocket" is good for starters. "Winning One Pocket" and "Shots, Moves, and Strategies" edited by Eddie Robin are both good but pricey. Tom Wirth's book "One Pocket: A Game of Controlled Aggression" is, in my opinion, the best thing in print on One Pocket today, worth every penny.
There are some good DVDs available, both how-tos and tournament matches. Billy Incardona's is good, also Scott Frost. If you want to work on your banking, "Bank Pool: Secrets of a World Champion" by John Brumback is a must-have. If you have access to anyone who has a good run of Billiards Digest Grady Mathews' monthly column is great. I have them all:grin: Lots of stuff on youtube.

Try coming-up with your own strategies first. Brainstorm as many and as wide a variety as possible. Draw from outside the pool world: sports, chess, military science, business, etc.. Test them. Then get the instructional stuff. Learn and compare.

Aloha

Any one of these will work wonders, utube and DVDs work good also, but these are the books.

Aloha
