I just saw an original oil on canvas original art work by Jane wooster Scott
on ebay.

I have several high quality prints hanging on my wall,I love them.I love to give them
as gifts to my friends and family. They don't cost much and they add color and cheer to
the house,warmth.

Well I saw an original early oil on canvas original for sale on ebay for $2800 so
I made an offer, the gallery man said he would have to present the offer to the consignee.

He replied, that didn't go s well, the owner felt like he was already giving it away at half its real worth.

He continued to explain that he was removing it from ebay if it didn't sell in 5 days.

advantage of it right away rather than act cheap"

Actually I am paraphrasing not quoting

I immediately bought the painting, having learned my lesson and feeling chastised

I buy$ 3,000 cues and don't think twice, but I was out of my element with artwork.
I found out how new buyers must feel looking at expensive cues.

Sounds like fun! Other than a few posters, and our own personal photographs, we've selectively bought some original paintings over many years to hang on the walls - just like having the artist's original artwork vs. prints, and like what we have. Two are artists local to a couple of areas we like and one was a friend of both our parents. Never spent anything like that, lol, for one painting (but nothing wrong with it either!). Heck, some folks think what I spent on my last puppy was probably unreasonable since he wasn't free. My wife cringes every time I talk about visiting a friend's gun shop. Can't second guess how anyone wants to spend their $! Sounds like something you'll enjoy very much.

Well, the “artist” could always pick up a hammer. I need a new deck!

hey deano, did you make the offer via the "make offer" option on ebay, or did you send them a msg?

if they enabled the "make offer" option, didn't set a high enough limit on the offer, and then woofed, you are not the nit my friend..

but however you sent it, if I was selling and didn't like it, I'd say "no, but thanks anyway"-
stealing is one thing, but what's wrong with trying to make a deal?
the art of negotiation is vanishing...

Expensive does not always satisfy. I get more pleasure from cheap booze and cheap women. As for a cheap suit or cigar...that's different. Is a cheap date bad?
