I Got Screwed!!!! Zims Rack --please read-- Michael Zimmerman

If you really want to know where it was at though Michael, ill PM you.

It would be in everyone's best interest if you told Michael what establishment it was. They need to be educated on the rules. What if someone from that bar wants to play in the league? Better for them to learn the real rules before playing in the league than thinking they know the rules & finding out the hard way during league play. There are all kinds of reasons why he needs to know the name of the bar.

Seriously, give the kid a break. He was angry about perceiving different calls on the same scenario. He was a bit emotional and posted something that was a bit blunt.

He never said that Mr. Zimmerman screwed him. I don't think Travis ever said anything bad about anyone.

Travis, don't apologize. Mr. Zimmerman has come on here and obviously doesn't take it personally. Some people on here are doing there best to goad you into saying something to defend yourself (that isn't necessary). Don't fall for it.
The title of the thread is "I got screwed" then uses his user name and real name. At the least he owes him an apology. In my opinion of course. Expecially because he didn't get screwed.

This bar has its own team in the league. I just don't want to post any more names because that could be even more problems. I understand where you're coming from though..

You misunderstand the rules. Anything can hit the rail after contact. The object ball, the cue ball, another ball, anything.

Damn, I saw your avatar and thought I had a bug on my screen lol. Good one.

To start I wasn't in anyway trying to bash Mike Zimmerman, I was just wanting him to reply so he could clarify the rules because its his league.
So im sorry if that offended you Mike. I don't have anything against him, and honestly Ive even been looking into him making a cue for me.

then you probably just missed it..

No apology required Travis... my rep speaks for itself (as well as other forum members, lol)

There are many leagues available to players, each with variations of rules, format and fees! I know where you were playing at, no need to say it!

As a matter of fact, this thread was brought to my attention by one of my league players! So I thought I'd take a look and see what's up... NO harm, NO foul! (by this post)

Other's have mentioned that you should be aware of the rules at each location/event you participate in... it could work in your favor or against you, depends on your knowledge! In this case, you were in the wrong and did not receive ball in hand... sorry!

If anyone is interested in Zim's Rack 8-Ball League, visit www.zimsrack.com or do a search on here for it and you'll find plenty of info. There's so much to type and so little time to type.

Thanks to everyone for the support on this matter,
Zim

Legal Shot

It's called a "safety" in 14:1. You must touch a ball and a cushion with the cue ball or drive a ball to a cushion. Your opponent played a legal shot.

I guess I'm the only one that read his post differently. I read "I got screwed" , which he did. He got screwed by a player that cheated him. That changed the rules on him to best serve himself. When the TD, who also was the bartender, was consulted on the shot, he was the only one that said it was a good shot. That tells me that that league plays by some different rules than normal. If everyone else that was there thought it was bad. Now, we all know that in reality, by any real rules, it was a legal shot.

The OP wasn't asking if it was normally a legal shot, but wanted to consult M.Z. about it. It's his league, and he surely would know the rules to it. My guess is that he wasn't there that night, so he posted here to find out what the ruling is supposed to be. No matter what the ruling is, the kid did get screwed by having two different rulings on the same type of shot. He just wanted M.Z.'s input to clarify the ruling for the future.

I agree... I just don't see how most posters in this thread think that Travis was bashing anyone. When he said that he "got screwed," he was talking about his opponent. He said that the same situation came up in a previous match against the same guy and a foul was called on Travis... but this time (when his opponent was shooting), it was called a legal shot. He put Michael Zimmerman's name in the title because he wanted Mr. Zimmerman to come to this thread and help him (Travis) understand the league's rules. True, it's the players' responsibility to know the rules before the tournament starts, but he wasn't bashing anyone. The only person that's getting bashed here is Travis, and he's getting bashed for no reason.

And secondly there all these posts about how kids don't start playing pool and why its dying, well sorry but a lot of the replies that were left is an example of why they don't. I ask a question because I felt I got the rules switched around on me, and 20 people see this as an opportunity to have fun and start bashing me. Great way to promote the sport guys!!! Makes me think twice before I sign back into here again. So maybe I'm not the one being immature, maybe its just some of you guys........
It won't be the first time, nor the last, that that happens, either. I complained about bass fishing once and got tore into harder than what you just faced!

The thing is, you didn't just ask a question, you blatantly state in the thread title that you got screwed, and apparently didn't relay the ENTIRE story. I also think no one realised your age so they assumed an adult who would know about all the rules made that post. Don't stop posting because of this. Learn from it. Many of the adults here are still learning, as well ;)
