So hows about we rename this wonderful event to the BreakUp-DriverMaker Memorial Holiday Tournament ? Thoughts ? (I've had mine for today, sorry :o )

Dave

I was thinking something similar when I heard the sad news, but I didn't anything since I never participated in this before.

When does the 2008 event begin?

It's gonna take me a few days to clean up the table, so Willies got until sometime on Sunday to get the "official" score thread posted .... 'cause I'm gonna kick this off if he doesn't ! I mean really, Thanksgiving was weeks ago now :)

Dave, just a little bit uppity today

I agree, I too thought of this, but didn't post anything. Mr Betmore will have to have his say in this.

I think if this question was properly presented on the main page we could get a bunch of ideas for a new name. It may also help get some new people involved.

DK,
I like the idea; let's do it.

I will say that since the word "Holiday" is prominently included in the tournament name, we MUST wait for a REAL holiday to start the festivities. I'm afraid most of us south of the border cannot reasonably consider the imitation-Canadian-Thanksgiving thing a real holiday (just the thought of a bunch of Indians bringing your settlers donuts, beer, and hockey sticks just ruins the holiday spirit).

However, I have no problem with getting an early start on the 50 racks, as long as your record keeping is accurate.

I'll post the details as the real Thanksgiving approaches.

P.S. - Every year breakup would post a long screed questioning the courage, morals, and gender designation of those members who decide not to participate. Perhaps you would like to prepare such an address to the forum for when we kick things off???? I'm definitely looking for a new co-director.

I don't know what you have against the finer things in life

Even though I am a quiet timid prairie boy who does not like to call attention to himself, I'll get on this. Thankfully there is a wealth of material to draw on, all I have to do is change the word "Williebetmore" to "yous-all" and the screed is pretty much done ... I have no issues with plagerising good material :D

Ok, let's get this straight once and for all. Thanksgiving has it's roots from the ancient harvest celebrations of pagans around the world. It's quite obvious that the First Nations people shared the fruits of their summers labor earlier because it was still fresh and they liked us better. Over time it evolved into donuts, beer and hockey sticks because they knew that's what we liked. :)

There's no need to be bitter because you guys got the leftovers.

I regret that I (possibly) will not be able to participate in this years BUDMMHT. I understand that my entry fee is forfeited.

Although I will commit to posting random pictures of the live action as I have done in years past.

Hal,
We will breathlessly await your insightful updates; and will continue to demean and castigate you if you fail to participate. I seem to recall that you have a pool table in your home.....I'm trying to think of some reason why you couldn't participate.....have you lost an appendage since last year????

Real sooooooooon ... just waiting for the creative plagarism mood to strike, likely after a beer or two this evening. In the meantime, to anyone reading this, don't miss this opportunity to measure yourself against other AZers, especially the Canadian contingent, one of whom posted a perfect session last year.

Dave, not even close to perfect
