I have to get some padding for my bum...

If you know the right answer to all of these you are a true hockey fanatic (fan). I will bet that your friend will be stumped by at least one and without looking them up may not know any of them.

You could make a bet on any of them and probably win.
I have an easy one for you:

Every player in the NHL has a number, 1 through 98. Why is 99 not used?

In honor of the Great Gretsky?
Send me my prize.

Yes...Gretsky.... the number was retired in 1999.

Told you it was easy :)

It's one of my favourite trivia questions. You'd be surprised how many don't know that, though!

He also holds the record for most hat tricks in one season (ten)! (Not to mention every other record he holds!)

I didn't know they had hockey in Jaw'Juh.:D
I think we've had our team, the Cottonmouths, for about ten years now. I would go to games with friends, but they'd want to leave before the third period was even over... even during Championships! Finally I started going by myself since I'd end up alone anyway. Now I go with a couple guys who love hockey as much as I do. Our seats are next to the opposing team's penalty box and we get to heckle the players.

My favourite this season: You've been kicked out of the IHL, the NHL... what's next? Disney on Ice?

Needless to say, we get the crowd going pretty good ;)

What does the Logo of the Montreal Canadiens stand for?
I believe it means Club de Hockey.

What does the logo of the Boston Bruins stand for?
It's a reference to Boston being the hub of the universe.

On every team there is one player with a "C" and several with a "A", what do those letters designate?
Duh! C means Captain, and A means Alternate Captain :)

EDIT: I lived in Boston for two years so while I like my Thrashers, I do cheer on my Boston teams!

Very good.

The logo for Montreal is a C, H, and another C that stands for Canadien Hockey Club but close enough. Most and even many Montreal fans think that the "C" stands for Canadians and the "H" for Habs (Habitants).

I like looking up things about logos and since it was an original six team there was even more interest for me. I was surprised that not many Boston fans know what it stands for.

Most people, writers and even broadcasters will say that the "A" is for assistant which is wrong. The rule book states that it is for alternate and there is a differnce. When the captain is on the ice he is the captain and is not assisted by any of the altenates during a dispute. When the captain is not on the ice one of the alternates is the captain at that time.

You probably know what my favorite is.

I always win a bet on that one. Whenever I am in Joe Louis Arena, home of the Red Wings, I will ask the person next to me if they know how many numbers are retired by the Wings. I always make sure that they are looking in the direction of the retired jerseys. They will jump at the bet which usually is a beer. They will think that they have a lock. Wrong. They will say 6 and then I laugh and say wrong. It is 7 because the league made every team retire 99 in honor of the Great One.

Some areas do have his jersey or number displayed as being retired but Detroit doesn't do that.

I've had season tickets for the Lightning for about ten years we sucked for a LONG time, and we suck again, but that cup run in 2004 was crazy. I didn't miss a playoff game including two game sevens. Philly took us to game 7 in the east, and so did Calgary in the finals. My seats are like 4 rows off the ice behind the goal. There is nothing in sports like a game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals. I will never forget that night, or the hangover I had the next day, but it was worth it because we won, Amazing.:D

Dang, thought sure I was right!

I figured it was to avoid confusion with #66 since hockey players spend so much time on their heads or upside down. :D ;) :D

Found out Friday morning they decided to go against the "Can you skate better than a first grader?" stunt. Apparently, first graders pitted against each other are cuter. *sigh* Maybe next season!

I just got a phone call from my friend who is a sportscaster for ESPN radio (who knows I'm a big hockey fan), and the two of us will be skating tomorrow night for "Can You Skate Better Than A First-Grader"! We go out on the ice after the first period hahaha

Why am I so excited to be making a fool out of myself?? :p

We'll be going out for the after party and shoot pool to celebrate our silliness. Now that I can do!
Since you are so quick to condemn and chastise people for their threads........
DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS BELONGS IN THE MAIN FORUM?
