I just Broke my Preadator BK2 shaft

Ahhhh, the quality of Predator. I sure don't miss mine. A very good replacement would be an OB Break Cue. American workmanship and great customer service. Probably the best in the pool business.

PS: Did you drive the tip into the table? I was trying to slow it down but was unable to tell.

If all else fails, OB Cues makes a break shaft for the BK2 and it is the nutz! I just received mine a few days ago and am squatting the cue ball better than ever.

I don't agree its fake. I would think you will get a new shaft from predator. Wierd how it just came apart like that. You do appear to follow into the slate though which could cause that. I do the same sometimes.

That video is one of the clearest i've seen on youtube. I would think predator would replace that shaft with no questions asked.

Here's some helpful Predator Information that may help you:

Predator stands by their warranty, unless you have modified the product. It is one of the strong points for me using their equipment.

You don't need a reciept, but you will have to fill out a form that you can download from their website. They do all their repairs in bunches, so if you miss the turn in on Thursday, you will have to wait unitl next thursdays turn in and the following weeks send out.

PREDATOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: If you have any questions or need any maintenance work done on your Predator product, use our Contact Us form or call customer service at 1-888-314-4111 or at 1-904-448-8748 for international callers, or e-mail us at customerservice@predatorcues.com.

Good luck,
James

man it's crazy to me people that still stand up for predator. their products have turned into junk since they moved production to china.

i'll always be a predator fan but i'll only buy pre -2 stuff.

If you have the receipt, you should have no problems getting Predator to replace the shaft under warranty. Call their customer service number and they'll tell you what you need to do.

I called the place where I got it from and they told me to send it back and they would send a new one so we will see on that .

Now On my playing shaft I've got a 314-2 Shaft and have had no problems what so ever .

I own both, pre 314-2 and 314-2 and I like the 314-2 shafts better. I've played with both the last few years and the newer shafts (314-2) are my favorites. I'm not crazy about where they are made, but the technology is good on the new 314-2 shafts. I have a friend who feels the same way that you do and he's happy with the pre 314-2 shafts and he says he's not changing to the newer shafts.

Like you, I think that the 314-2 is better than the previous but the pre-cat felt better then all of them!

You get what you pay for, never liked them, never will.Your not the first this has happened to, but the crowd went wild here, good show.

Freeze the 24 second frame and we can see why the shaft broke.

The torque must be emmense between your bridge hand holding down on one end and you standing up so quickly with the other end....randyg

James my opinion has nothing to do with technology. as far as the new taper of the 314 i'm on the 50 yard line about that.

what i was trying to say was that i won't buy any of the -2 gear because i don't feel like spending money on something that's probably going to need to be repaired. i don't care how good the warrantee is i don't want to buy myself a problem.

i don't dig that they're made in china but that wouldn't keep me from buying one. the defects are what keep my dollars from going to them. even the new case they're selling is garbage compared to the old case they used to offer

Damn. Hope you ran the rack out for all your troubles, lol. I don't understand how you can charge so much money for a product only to tell people NO we won't replace it. I remember Meucci was like that going back like 10-15yrs ago. Their ferrules were notorious for breaking all the time and they wouldn't replace them. Me and my friends just stopped using their cues altogether for that reason. Its just not good business.

no way is that the problem. that might have been the straw that broke the chihuahua's back. the problem is/was poor construction.

The quality on the second gen shafts is way up from the previous 314's that were made in house and at falcon. You would not believe the tolerances that they go through in the factory. Each Pie piece is actually matched with a machine for a truly consistent shaft. They really don't have that many problems either, take into account that they sell 300-400 shafts a month for the past ten years, there are a ton out there and for the problems that you hear about, trust me it is a very small percentage, in most cases less than 1%. They really do their best to give the best customer service in the industry.

Sorry that happened to you. No-one in their right mind would have done that deliberately, at least without putting on safety glasses and gloves first!

I've used a BK1 for over 7 years. I've tried other jump/breaks including an Xbreaker and a Stinger but keep going back to my old faithful BK1. The ferrule did crack after about 2 years (I used to follow the tip down on the cloth far more, which tends to wear it down.) Predator replaced it no questions asked. Whatever layered tip they put on it is still on there and going strong. No problems since then.

The only issue it has (other than the giant pussy cat logo that I've never liked) is that the quick-release joint needs to be given an extra twist to get it properly tight after assembling it and making the first break shot. It's always been like that, as was a Dale Perry cue with the same joint I had.
