On a 9 foot Brunswick Gold Crown tournament edition, and now i am spoiled... I want to own a 9 foot table with that Centennial Cloth. Oh man that was like the smoothest table i have ever played on! i want one!!! Though with a $11,000 price tag i am thinking of just getting a no name 9 footer and putting on new bumpers, and that Centennial Cloth. What do you think, would that work?

I can't believe I've been missing out on this...Though some of you may be like ok... But to me this was one hell of an experience... :smile2:

You're not dreaming. The Gold Crown V may be the best Gold Crown ever made. For a brief minute I was partners in five of them, but only one remains now. And it's in Fatboy's pad. :o

P.S. Changing rails won't quite do it. Many things are different on that table. Take a closer look.
 
The best way to get a great playing table is to start with a great table.

There are about a bizillion Gold Crowns available used. With good quality cushions, cloth and well set up, you will be light years ahead of getting a "no name" table and trying to upgrade your way into what you are looking for. Now, if you are just balking at the price of a brand new GC5 but it is not out of your budget, then you have a decision to make, including whether or not to buy a new Diamond instead.

LA toolman, Centennail cloth is Brunswick's premium (and very overpriced) cloth.

Draz, the cloth doesn't make the table, but you're right about how sweet they play. Like this one I got last month (thanks again, Jay).

That table looks sweet man! Okay so is there any other type of felt close to that Centennial Cloth? Because it rolls so smooth...Unlike anything ive ever come across.

and i will try and look for used brunswick tables... I might get lucky on craigslist... :cool:

Wow, that's a great looking GCV! I am going to have RKC redo my rails to the same size pockets as the Tournament edition. Do you know the exact pocket widths and angles??
 
The corner pockets measure 4-1/2 at the foot and 4-5/8 at the head. One of the side pockets is 5" and the other is 4-7/8.You would think that B'wick would do a better job for the extra charge for the model.
The corner pocket angle is just over 142 (that's kind of hard for me to measure with the rails covered and installed, but I'm sure it's within a half degree).

If I ever get off my dead ass and set something up with Donny, the corners will be 4-1/2 and 141 degrees.

Howard, thank you so much for that. I am going to have Glen set me up the same way. I am going to go with 4-9/16 and 5-1/16 for sides with a 141 or 142 angle (and whatever the side pocket angles are...).

what do you see as the depth of the pocket shelf? I know the tighter pocket will cause you to loose some pocket shelf, but I am coming up with a calculation of around 1-1/4" is what it would be measuring the perpendicular line from the imaginary line of the pocket mouth opening to the center of the pocket drop arch.

Does the pocket rattle the balls much or not really?
