I like Cuetec cues...

Being an Earl Strickland fan, I got one too........

Being a fan of Earl's from way back,(of his pool playing ability, not his personality on the table) I got a Cuetec and played with it for a while. A friend borrowed it and said he didn't like it because of the shaft's "stickiness"....funny, it never bothered me before, until he mentioned it....after that, it started bothering me on my stroking and I got rid of it....this was before I used a glove....not sure how it would've worked out if I had used a glove..........I also noticed how Earl bashed the Cuetec cue after they didn't renew his contract, saying it took away from his game.....

Surly,

I think a lot of people that bash Cuetec cues are doing so over quality issues that they had with them. That and the fact that the fiberglass cladded SST shaft leaves much to be desired in the the minds of most serious shooters.
My first "real" two-piece cue (meaning one NOT purchased at WallyWorld/K-Mart) was a Cutec w/12mm diameter SST shaft. I still have it and pull it out at the home table every so often. It actually has a pretty good hit and I usually shoot well with it. I don't like the way the shaft has a sticky feel to it, but I always wear a glove when shooting with this shaft.

Me too. Then is was demoted to my break cue. Then eventually it wen the way of Ebay.....Hey I am a poet and I didn't even know it.

If you've found something you like, and that you get what you consider good results with, then by all means use it. Much better than spending a chunk of money on something & finding you don't get along with it. The whole business of cue choice - weight, balance, joint, taper, materials, tip, etc... It's a journey, not a destination. Enjoy.

Details Please

I sanded the coating off the shaft. No more stickyness.

Fiberglass can be rather tough stuff, so can you explain which grits of paper you used to sand out the shaft coating?
