I need a new cue case, and can not decide on one

My copy kat vinyl case made in china is on its last leg, and I need to replace it. I am thinking of springing for a leather case with my income tax return, and have narrowed down my choices to. Dan whitten Model 42-F, Murnak Vintage, or Justis Pro Lite.

All being in 4 Shaft & 2 Butt arrangement. My requirements are the ability to carry a playing cue with (2) shafts, break cue with a shaft, and jump handle & shaft. Also need lots of storage space for accessories.

The only thing I know from reading the AZB archives is these three leather case makers appear tops.

Plus few Murnak Vintage change hands, when Whitten & Justis cases do go up for sale they are scooped up fast.

If you own a Whitten, Murnak Vintage, or Justis Pro Lite and can offer some insight as to why you would buy you cases again.

Please share your personal experences.

I think you should also consider a Dennis Swift.

I have own most of the case you mentioned except for Murnak.

I like It's George. They are very light but sturdy and protects my cue well. And of course they are of a very nice classic design.

I like my Justis. But it is just to nice to bring about and heart aching everything i bump into something or some water spills on it and it gets stain.

Whitten is nice and well built but they tend to look very much like the hundreds of production taiwanese cases that i see around. You could get one with exotic leather.

Dennis Swift. I likes its design and tooling. Lots of space for my accessory. Rugged and will built. Overall i favor it most. Problem is i got the one with 3 pouch and could not fit a jump butt in it. But you can get one with the longer pouch. Besides now i use a jump break so i can live without the short jump stick.

Best regards
Chris

I just recieved my Jim Murnak 2x4 about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The dual sholder straps is a plus and it is just flat out a high quality case. You can't go wrong with a Murnak IMO

Eric.

I have owned a Murnak, and can tell you that his cases are tip top quality throughout.

If you are looking for lightweight.....Jack Justis' new ProLites weigh in at under 4lbs for a 2x4 case...and that's pretty lightweight...especially for a leather case!

I also like Ron Thomas' cases, but have never seen one up close and personal.

From your requirements, you should be looking at:

Omega
Instroke
Murnak

If customization is important to you, then Murnak is probably going to be your best choice, given your requirements.

That being said, when I bring a jump handle around in my Justis Pro Lite, I put the jump handle in a little sleeve to protect it, and I put that in the long pocket. Jack's cases are IMO, the premier case in the business.

murnak is the greatest. i have had mine for 2 mos and love it. he is the best to work with. pm me for details. i can e-mail pic's if wanted.

Whitten, Murnak, Justis All make a great product my only suggestion is give Ron Thomas a look. I like the old school style case he makes. If I were to purchase a cowboy style case I would myself go towards Justis. I owned one of his cases a few years back and it was very nice. I sold it because I thought I was giving up pool. Good Luck

Murnak

I've owned my Murnak for about a year now and let me tell you it's the best!!

I personally have owned a Whitten, George and Ron Thomas Cases. All are first class.

The Thomas IMHO is superior to the George but you got to keep track of the lids, as they do not permanently attach to the case.

As on several occasions I almost misplaced my lids or case top.

Think I preferrer the Whitten over the Thomas/George design. I have never seen a Murnak inperson, but his cases look great in photos.

INstroke

Well I would go INstroke, or talk to John Barton...............I wouldn't buy any others.

I have the Jack Justis ProLite

You cannot go wrong with a Justis.

Mine is a very solid feeling well made case that is noticeably light weight.

Post a picture whatever you buy

I use a instroke, but if I had the money I'd get one of Jack's in a heart beat.
